Hi all, I recently saw a vintage longines diver... I think one would agree, it's quite the looker. I have a couple of questions: What is the model called? What should I be paying to get one? Thanks for reading.
I don't think that it had a specific model name, though I believe that it is a reference 8248. They can trade for anywhere from $500 to around $1000 depending on condition, etc.
Several Longines divers used that exact bezel, including the Ultra-Chron divers in the 79xx series. Here's a 7970-1 caliber 431 somebody asked me about a day or two ago: Tony is right on with his price analysis - I think this one sold for about $800. There are lots of them being offered at $1500 and up, but I doubt any actually sell at that kind of price.
The model number is 8248.
