My mother in law recently passed away and in the process of cleaning out her house we came across this watch. We have no idea where it came from, obviously a passed relative, but it seems to be in good shape. It’s a beautiful old watch and seems to be authentic but not sure. Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

That looks like a 100% repainted dial. Do you have pictures of the inside? What kind of bracelet is that? Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Good luck!

Thanks for the response and yes, I thought the same thing looking at the dial but wasn’t quite sure. This seems to have been put away for years as we never saw or heard about it. I’m almost afraid to try to open the back, is that advisable or should I take it to someone?

Take it to a watchmaker. He can open it. Make some pictures and then you know a bit more. For example, are those papers indeed the original papers and does the serial number match the number on the papers. Also, nice and original connie case with frontcase still in it. That's special. You dont see this often.

Is that a omega bracelet? looks almost like a old speedy bracelet. But i have only my phone with me so pictures are small and I'm getting old...

Yeah, the case is immaculate, it’s hard to believe it could be that old!

Sorry, my knowledge is very limited when it comes to this but the bracelet looks like it could’ve been added at some point, not sure though.

Ah. Looking at the endlinks so probably no omega. Anyway, I'm in a car right now so good luck!

I don’t believe so but not quite sure. I’ll be back over there tomorrow and I’ll take a closer look. It looks like it could’ve been a dime store band added at a later date but not certain.

@skychief as Tamura says above, it is an Omega bracelet. The bracelet (with end links) will be worth more than the watch itself. How fantastic that you still have the entire box w/ papers as well

When you hold the watch and move it from side to side, du you notice a slight bump? As if something like a bolt is loose inside the watch? If you do, it is most likely a reference 2782 like the one I own:

...Just had a look at your photos; given the serial number, it will be a 2782 - and it looks like we're dial buddies :D

What are your plans with it?

Thank you for your time and response, I really appreciate it! I was actually going to mention that it does have a bump when you shake it, I learned that from researching on here! As far as what to do with it, not sure yet. I love the way it looks and would probably wear it myself, but it belongs to my wife and brother in law and if it has value, they would probably look into selling it considering no one knows who, or where, it came from so there is no sentimental value attached.

While you would probably make more by selling the parts seperately, I really hope that they stay together. I am a romantic that way :D

If you find the end links somewhere, the bracelet will be much more usable and also valuable. They will look something like this, most likely with a "4" stamped underneath:

Oh, by the way - if you have the filled-out warranty card, it will show the reference and point of sale etc.

If it is there alongside the other documents, I'd love to see it!

I will be back over there tonight and I will take pics of everything I can. Still not 100% on the band because I don’t remember seeing any markings but I could be wrong. The case is what really struck me though, it even had a cleaning cloth that looks like it just left the jewelers. Thanks a lot for all your help!

I did have a pic of the cleaning cloth and more of the case, I can’t believe this is from 1954. 4E91CC9F-5916-4431-9E44-9A001EE39D9D.jpeg
