I don’t think Omega ever sold the medallions separately.

These medallions were made from very thin 14K gold and were hollow. Very difficult to remove with damaging.

So if you see one on eBay, it is a fake, maybe cast from a real one.

Thank you. My plan is to find a spare caseback or a complete case with the medaillon. The gold is not ok (the draw of the observatory is different). Maybe someday i will find it …

This exactly, the only way to solve this problem is a replacement 2648 case back with yellow gold medallion....and these are very hard to find
Considering that the index and hands are rose gold, i think that even the medallion is rose gold…or am i wrong?

You are absolutely right, they looked yellow to me.

Set up some alerts on eBay or Google alerts. They pop up sparingly, but if you have the alerts set up you might catch one

…and consequently, if possible, much harder to find!!
...I didn't want to say that....but hard to find case backs do pop up.....you just need patience, a lot of patience...

Looks like someone was able to get the medallion out?
The case back is original (genuine)…consequently …Simeone broke or remove the medaillon…

More than likely someone took it to scrap for the limited amount of gold content. Or maybe just maybe, someone was looking for a medallion just like you! 😂

I believe 2648, 2652, 2782, 2852 and 2887 had the same size / style medallions. 14381 and 14393 possibly too. That’ll make the hunt significantly easier.
I’ve never had trouble getting a medallion out, for what it’s worth. But the case backs didn’t survive.

I have a gold yellow medallion that was removed from the case back and I think that it will probably work for you. The medallion was polished, but it still shows all of the eight stars. I'll send you a message, Nicola. Best, -Greg
