I just purchased this Constellation, circa 1959, 551 movement, ref. no. 14381. I am 99.99% certain that the crown is incorrect, and that the decagonal crown would be correct. Any good sources available for such a crown?
Nice piece. Gold capped or solid? The decagonal crown would be correct. I would suggest looking on ebay for 50's Omega Crowns. Or could get lucky on this forum in the WTB section.
There are two sizes of decagonal crown - this takes the smaller of the two which is no longer available from Omega - it's more 60s than 50s. Is it yellow gold?
Thanks! The watch has a yellow gold bezel and yellow gold-clad lugs. The caseback is stainless with a gold observatory insert.
True, but the thread size is different so the large one will be loose if you fit it to the later cases.
The correct crown should look like this Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to find one, You may end up with a thicker one with strong 18K color (looks ugly to me) And if you can find one like this It's good ,too (original for that model)
