Hi all,

We got watch after late auntie, unfortunately no stories was told about the clock. It looks to be rather good shape, but needs service. Looks like art deco and may be from 1930's?

I think we might service it, but will it be worth restoring it?
What king of bracelets was used on these?
It would be nice to get more information about the model if somebody knows 😀

Thank you,
aarnma

If the watch is important to you or yours, have a watchmaker look at it and assess it for condition and quote you a price. Then decide whether you want to spend the money. We can’t help you with that decision. As to a bracelet? It likely had a black nylon cord strap with a deployant buckle on it. It looks art deco to me, so possibly late 1920s or thereabouts. It has potential.

Your watchmaker may have a strap to pair it with, but they are easily available elsewhere. Just a quick google search for cocktail watch strap will bring up a bunch of options

Looks to be in nice shape. Certainly worth a service.

If you’re interested in wearing it, service it. If not leave it the way it is.

Something like this:

This type of cord bracelet awas likely the type that was used on the subject watch when new. These cord bracelets were (and may still be) available with larger diameter cords which would be best suited to watch cases with larger diameter holes in the case lugs.

Thank you all, for guidance. My wife will check with watchmaker if we can get it running. I would not do anything on visible parts.
Let's see if i can get some picture from inside.

What kind of ballpark value these clocks have in working condition?

There’s an old adage that goes something like this: Any item might be said to be worth more to the owner than it is to anyone else. What an item is”worth” will depend on the individual.

If you or your family member don’t ascribe sentimental value to the Omega, then it is likely not worth what it will cost you to have it serviced. This is as much a family artifact as it is a watch. You might be able to buy a “toss away” watch for very little money. Deal directly with a watchmaker who has a good reputation among antique and vintage watch enthusiasts, and ask for an estimate for the repair. Once you know the repair cost, you can decide for yourself whether it is worthy of you spending what it will take. What it is worth to you is more important than what it might be worth to others. If you need a referral for someone to service the Omega, tell us where you live (we don't need your address!)

That watch would make a woman much more interesting and stylish, if that has any value.

Thank you for all replies. Based on serial number it's from 1939 and it has T12.6 movement.
Let's see what watchmaker thinks about repair.

We got some estimate. What I read between the lines... This is not may be such rare item even it's old and in rather good shape.
Most likely my wife is not going to use it so better not to pay 300eur for service... maybe we keep it as memory then.

Forgive me if I seem cynical but: get a second opinion. That is an heirloom. Those are the coolest to wear. Best of luck with it. No one wants to wear my great grandmothers' Longines but I got it serviced anyway: 2 lovely nieces of mine will co-own it one day
