Between Poshmark and Mercari, Poshmark is the better site to sell the vintage items on, from a girlie standpoint. I go to Mercari mostly for electronics (mobile phones/ kindle, etc) and kitchen electrics, etc. Posh is definitely more clothing and upscale items.

Otherwise ppl sell over IG just like ppl do with watches.

I never had much luck with consignment, they are very picky about what they take, but with items like that, I think you wouldn't have a problem with them taking them. They look to be in very nice shape.

Perhaps a battered womens’ shelter. They use these items to help women find new jobs and get themselves (and frequently their children) into better situations. Just a thought.

Looking at the labels and the fabrics, I don't believe any of these are truly "vintage", probably not more than ten or fifteen years old. I suspect that actually makes them more valuable, not less.

Don't know about the resale shops in your area, but I'd see what offers you get. Sending them to Goodwill or similar (drop off anything, and it's sold for ten bucks) is throwing your money away. If you have experience selling on eBay, that might maximize your profit.

Well, we have had them for longer than that...so I don't believe your estimates are even in the ballpark...

Also, from what I remember from my hard core thrift days, the “Burberrys” versus “Burburry” denotes a change in time frame- I just don’t remember when the cut-off was. But anything “Burburrys” is great stuff. I have a stunning raglan sleeve houndstooth tweed top coat that’s Burberrys made in England from the 60’s- outstanding coat.
The removal of the 's' at the end happened at the end of the century (around 1999) so this dates the garments to before that date. (Unless old stock sold somewhere!)

Talking to my wife, we think she received this either just before or just after we moved into our current house, which was back in 1996.

In addition to the change in the Burberrys name being in the 1998/1999 time frame, the retailer on the coat, Glatrucco, is an Italian retailer that closed all their retail locations in 2001 from what I have found.

I do know that my wife received all these things (in addition to the Burberrys stuff, there was a mink coat and some other items) well after her aunt passed away, so this is certainly not recent production.

Those are some nice items.
I've always been a fan of Burberry. But I'm a sucker for plaid.

Few years back, my all female team dragged me through numerous stores in London looking for Burberry coats. I just wanted to hit a pub but…The prices were staggering. I’d not give these away.

New prices are high-ish; but these take a steep dive the moment sold, as Burberry makes a lot of these every year, and they remain fairly constant in design every year.

Just one popular marketplace alone, Grailed, currently has 1,800 vintage Burberry trench coats, with the more relevant/legitimate asking prices seeming to range from $60-$200

Given the alternatives available online, this sort of thing could languish online for quite some time if posted at the higher end of the asking range.

This goes for the trench and scarf at least - the umbrella may be less common in number, but perhaps for same reasons also less commonly sought after.

Reported this thread as an obvious attempt at usurping the rule of a minimum 25k posts before being able to sell clothes here.

The scarf is awesome, and unisex- I know this isn’t a Moroccan bazaar, but someone take that off of @Archer. Grab the Umbrella too while you’re at it and maybe Al will mention the size of the trench- Christmas is right around the corner.

Your gnome really does roam! 😁
You have never seen a contact sport until you have been in a 1/2 off sale at a ladies consignment store!

I would definitely buy the scarf. I would buy the umbrella but it does not rain very often here. Might make a nice surprise gift for my sister though. Nice items and definitely worth buying.

Actually had trouble finding a tag with the size on it, but it was inside a pocket. It states the "model" as "Long 12" which I assume is the size? No idea what that actually means, because women's clothing sizes are a bit of a mystery to me...

Odd numbers are for young, slender women. Even numbers are for more mature women with more pronounced curves. As the numbers go up, the size increases. Long implies for taller women.

Alas, there is absolutely no standardization in what size means what... one maker's 12 is another's 14 or 16, or perhaps 8 or 10.

With respect to that coat, it's not too bad, they're not designed to be form-fitting. If it fits the shoulders and hips and falls to more or less knee length, you're good. Trousers, on the other hand... there's a reason that, in the old TLC show What Not to Wear, the hosts always recommended that women get their clothes tailored to fit, because very few women were successful in getting a decent fit off the rack.

I've got some 80's "skinny ties" if anyone wants them. I think I even have a leather one, and one that look like a sock...Oh the good old days...
