Caught another beauty, this 40s Chronographe Suisse in 18k rose gold.

The case is in good condition with minor dings in the back case and is quite large at 39 mm. The attractive multi colored dial is great for its age. It has a manual wind Landeron movement.

Its one of the best value for money watch i have bought lately. Quite frankly, its an elegant looking timepiece.

    A lovely looking piece.

    Here's mine - a birth year (1950 - I know - I look older).

Almost identical to mine sxl2004 except that your hour markers are applied. I had a few of these before including a beautiful Titus. Always regretted selling them.

I like them a lot. Great classic designs with an underrated movement.

Yes they are beautiful watches. I think the only downfall are the thin gold cases which can easily be dented or warped.

You ain't whistling Dixie. My caseback is held on with a lump of Blutack - but if I don't mention it no-one will ever know!

Happened to me before when i dismantled the watch and managed to bend out of shape, the flimsy middle case.

I have a couple of these, one like those above with the Landeron 48 and another with the dials N-S which uses the Venus170, I rather like them, particularly the larger 39mm size case varieties. One of mine is with Simon at Essex Clock and Watch so he may be worth trying for UK service work but there are others too who are worth a shout such as TheWatchbloke, Watchguy and of course Simon Freese.

Here's mine. Very similar to @padders:

    MVC-029S.jpg

When I got this, it was in very sad shape. It was totally rebuilt by Craig Bergsma of Chronodeco.com. Sadly, Craig isn't taking on new repair work anymore. He is the guru on these watches. At one time, he had purchased thousands of NOS Landeron parts out of Switzerland and was building new versions of these with modern cases.

    Those are all gone now.

Craig is still taking on work, just not Landeron anymore.

Picked up another today, marked up as Titus but it is exactly the same formula as all the rest, thin 18k rose gold case, Landeron 48 variant movement. The condition meant I couldn't leave it behind. That is 3 now, I need to stop.

    My Eberhard Mareoscope

Has "Chronograph Suisse" engraved on the caseback

With my awesome grasp of the French language I know that means "Swiss Chronograph"; however - is it a link to the company that made the (usually) Landeron-based chronographs so well illustrated in this thread, or is it just that the Eberhard is a Swiss chronograph?

Thanks. Many of these have gilt numerals that looks amazing when the light catches them just right, it is pretty hard to photograph but means some mundane looking pieces on eBay etc can actually look a lot nicer in the flesh. This one was from a watch fair in Solihull UK, I also picked up a nice gen 1 dynamic too, a little off topic but still Omega relevant so hopefully won't offend:

Does anyone have a reliable formula for dating these even approximately? The Swiss hallmarks aren't year dated so those don't help and the Landeron 48 movement and its descendants was used for about 3 decades from 1937 (according to Ranfft). My gut says the majority date to the 1940s-50s but it would be nice to have even a rough idea of age. For instance, does the presence of 'anti magnetic' or similar on the dial suggest a later iteration of were they all similarly specced. Anyone know the skinny?-
