It has been awhile since I last checked up on this site:
    http://www.vintagecertinas.ch/

They have, since I visited, really done a great job redesigning it.
It now also have serial and reference number info and much more.
A lovely site, dedicated to a really outstanding brand!

    Cheers,
    :)

    That is a nice redo.

The first vintage watch I bought was a DS-2 that had issues with the date complication. That was September of last year. I took it to my local watchmaker and he procrastinated on it until I ran out of patience with him. Now I'm going to retrieve it from him unrepaired and reassess my options. Thanks for reminding me of this site.

My Certina purchased at a farm yard sale for $2.00. She was asking 50 cents, but I only had two dollar coins. Much money spent bringing it to where you see it. The Kurth-Certina movement in this watch I rate on a par with Rolex, Omega, and many other top notch brands of the 1950s. And far better than many others. My only Certina, but always looking! image.jpeg image.jpeg

It's nice to see some recognition given to some of these lesser known watch makes. I have often wondered how it came about that a quality watch like Certina didn't become more main stream. Lack of promotion? Were they more popular in Europe than in North America? The Vintage Certinas website looks to be of interest.

Certina is a really lovely and underappreciated swiss watch brand. I'm guessing it just didn't have any room on the market or wasn't able to compete with the "big boys" (Longines, Omega, Zenith, etc.).

Also, thanks for the website. Never heard of it so far. It seems really interesting...

I bought a box of watchmakers junk parts and this beauty was at the bottom. Big 38mm case, too.

As far as I can see Certina was much better represented in Europe.
Where I live it was, and still is, a very available brand.

My father's Certina Certronic tuning fork watch that was gifted to him in 1975 by the mining company he worked for.

@alinghi74 I have yet to fully comprehend the scale of your website but the world of horology needs more people like you. Hats off for what you're doing.

Are you really just a guy that is a little obsessed with Certinas and wants to share his knowledge with the rest of the world ? :p

    Nice one.
Is there a personal engraving or a serialnumber on the caseback?

Certina was one of the first brands I started to collect, and found loads of inspiration on the early versions of the Vintage Certina web page.
Still stopping every time I see a Certina somewhere.
