So, this vintage Seamaster, cal. 500 popped up on my radar recently. Please take a look and give me you unvarnished feedback. It is reported to be solid 14K, and original through and through. The guy hasn't sent a movement pic, but does offer a guarantee that the watch is original. It's an L&K case, cal. 500 movement, serial number starting with 151 dating the watch to 1956. He says it's barely been worn, and the inside/movement is as clean as the case and dial. He's asking $1,500. Please let me know if you think this all looks correct, and adds up, or if you see any issues or problems. I would likely proceed if it's original and untainted, but hesitate if you guys spot any issues or problems. Thanks in advance for everyone's time and feedback.

    That looks excellent

American cased Omegas are worth less than Swiss ones, but price-wise I don't see this as being an unreasonable offer.

It looks good and is indeed a really nice watch. Then again, if he knows that the movement is clean why didn't he take a picture of it as well ? I'm not saying that the movement is a problem but you never know... Would be nice of him to offer one...
Also, remember to factor in a service cost as well in your final price. Whether you'd buy it for this price or not is up to you, of course.

I know, he's a elderly fellow, and I haven't been able to convince him that it's important for me to actually see the movement yet... lol. He doesn't even want to sell it to me unless I come out to his shop and buy it in person. That would be fine, but he's 3-4 hours away... lol again. I hope he comes around. Thank you guys for your feedback. Do you see anything that I should be concerned about? Redial, inconsistencies in the story, case, dial, etc... I appreciate everyones experienced feedback and advise.

Pictures aren't very good. Everything looks good. It's a really nice watch. Not sure about their price but it sure ain't cheap, that's for sure... Be sure to check that it functions good. Check the crown to see if it rotates smooth (same goes for the hands), etc.

With a case, crown and dial condition like that, I'd take a leap of faith anyday. Any moisture ingress that could have damaged the movement would have spoiled the dial first on a fifties reference like this, and the case and crown shows that the watch hasn't been used much.

And IF there really is troubles with the movement, that's probably the least difficult thing to put right.

Nothing. Honestly, even the strap looks to be of the correct age and the buckle is solid gold (and of the type I'd expect to see on an American cased watch of that age, too).

Yes, the price is strong, but IMO not completely out of line. The only issue I'd have is that it's a watch that'll devalue everytime you wear it. It's rarity and value lies in it's condition and that will deterioate with use. Take that into your consideration.
