and then there were these things... from 1980, at least it has a cool depth gauge, sorta makes up for it being quartz!

that and it was real cheap, NOS, from a retired Bulova dealer.

That just reminded me of something that I'd completely forgotten about...

Back in the Spring there was a big auction in Switzerland that was selling off watches and watch parts as a liquidation of some company. One of the lots contained a really interesting looking Bulova Accutron diver with perhaps a bezel lock. I searched at the time and came up with nothing, and as it looked NOS and as the dial was rotated (and as it came from an industry liquidation) I figured it might be a prototype. I bid but was the underbidder, and forgot about it until the post above triggered something in my mind...

Anyway, has anyone here seen similar before ?

I have not seen one before, but I like the fancy red button 👍 there are a bunch of these devil divers - I just passed along a Pepsi bezeled oceanographer 333. And also have a woman’s and man’s white track Caravelle Devil Diver set.

Anyone have any devil divers with Germany dials? I saw this one on Ebay not sell a few times before the seller dropped the price. Wife is out of town... so I bought her a present 😗

I jumped on a buy-it-now Bulova 666 chrono a few weeks ago on US eBay and it just landed here in Germany. It was clear from the sellers pics it was going to be problematical, but I think it isn't as bad as it could have been and it was only €100 so it didn't break the bank.

Anyway, now it's here I wondered if it's worth the cost to get it fixed. I actually quite like the dial, but I think it's fair to say that it's damaged rather than tropical. There's been a leak by the crown / pushers as there's rust on the movement, but I have a 7733 donor so I reckon I could get it fixed and serviced for around €250-300, so €350-400 all in. Do you guys think it's worth the effort ? And is there any love here for this knackered dial, or should I try and go find a good condition or NOS one to replace it ?

I picked up a grungy Gold (plated/Filled?) 1963 ladies self winding recently, dirt cheap just to try my hand at restoring it. After cleaning the exterior and letting it run for several days the watch began keeping perfect time and the self winding feature works fine. I got a nice leather band for it and gave it to my sister. The original gold band was fine but too small for her wrist.
Only actual damage was a scuffed crystal that took about ten minutes to polish out.

I suspect the crystal got scruffed not long after the watch was bought and the owner just put it away in a drawer and forgot about it.

Anyway this got me interested in the Bulova watches.
Lately I've see several Bulova Seaking "Whale" models on sale but haven't found any information on these. Perhaps a dress watch for those who spend some of their time at sea?

I first became aware of the Bulova Oceanographer ( Devil Diver) in October. Stumbling across this Fratello article:
https://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-bulova-oceanographer-666/

My interest was piqued and soon found a nice example on Ebay.
s-l1600.jpg Now the reissue news kind of validates the purchase.

Yes, it is the JB Champion, still has the blue protective coating in the case back as well.

Sorry I’m a bit late to the party, here’s mine, just got it back from a service - it came with the original box too, which I’ve never seen...

This one has been kicking around on a local sales platform (Gumtree) for months at too high a price. When I read about the reissue I dropped the seller a line with a more reasonable offer, given the condition (either blackened lume on the hands, or no lume at all). If I don't like it I can flip it, and it may just experience a rise in value when the reissue comes out. Out for delivery today!
