Hi there! I am completely new to the forum, so excuse me for being a complete noob. I am talking to some sellers about vintage Seamasters, I have tried to narrow down my search to these two, being a De Ville and a Seamaster date. Both from the 60s and with automatic movements. The asking price from the De Ville is $700 and as for the Seamaster $640. Please let me know your thoughts :) If you know any other good purchases, maybe on this very forum, please let me know :)
    Appreciate you're help :)

Don't like either at those prices.

Hands may not be correct for the first. Too many marks and someone removed the bezel which is not really meant to be removed (never removed one when I restored this case type)

Second is just average condition in regards to case condition

Would pass on both and look for something cleaner

hi, the seamaster looks completely wrong. Non Seamaster case. The dial looks repainted. I wouldn't buy it.
The Seamaster DeVille looks good to me but little expensive. Ask the seller first when this watch was serviced, because the service for this watch cost other hundred $$$.

Just asked about when the Deville was last serviced. I am having a hard time finding any good ones for around $500. The biggest problem I am having is that I am looking for watches in the EU and not worldwide, as customs/VAT prices will make it even more expensive, unless I find someone willing to mark it as lower.

    Agree with Temprus.
If I were you, I will pass on both. Wait patiently for some other Omega watches to come up.
    Cheers,

    Hi Ankita,
I'm also from Europe and don't like the VAT duties when importing...

I don't claim to be an expert here, just an somehow advanced newbie and write IMO, open to discuss my opinion
    with more experienced members.

First one looks very polished on the caseback, the hands are not in a condition you really like to look at.
Dial is original IMO, the crown isn't (at least looks quite strange on the last picture)

The second one is supposed to be from 1965 but this kind of Seamster S on it was only used until 1960 or 61.

So you don't have a match of case and movement.
How about the seconds hand with a different colour?? Could also be too long

Did you try to figure out yourself about the watches?

Take the reference number, google it compare "your" watch with what you find on the Internet...

    Take care

Second appears to be missing the bezel. Third not bright enough. Maybe done to hide some imperfections

I’m with Passover on those last two. First one is clean and everything bar the crown is exactly as you’d expect, a tad over polished but hasn’t lost too much definition from the lugs or Sea-monster. Cal 562 is clean and correct for ‘65, excellent quality movement capable of great accuracy, (my ‘63 vintage one is running at +5 secs a day currently). The only problem is the weird patina on the hands, odd when the indices are unmarked. Second one is a Frankenstein. Very clean cal.565, 24m serial putting it in ‘67, coathanger ‘S’, applied OMEGA and indices make the dial late ‘50’s. Mid-case and caseback probably late ‘60s so I’d give that a very wide berth. Happy hunting and welcome, as a fellow noob, to the incredible fund of knowledge that is OF.

I am afraid I cannot agree with you on the second watch. I think the bazel is not missing. It is there as you can see from the side view of the watch.

    Thanks, Bumper.
    My apologies.
However, from the side view of the above watch, I am not sure.
    Is the bazel not there?

    Hi,
take a look at this (No connection to the seller. I bought another watch from him, which was approved by members of the OF as good).
For me it looks very good, comes from the UK and is quite similar to the ones you posted here before

Of course I can not take any responsibility as I said I'm a beginner myself!

May be others here can take a look at this one for you...

Absolutely nothing wrong with that one though it is gold cap and some people prefer steel. It probably won't go cheap as the seller is reliable and buyer confidence will be high.

    Agree with Edward53.
    Seller's reliability is the priority.
The subject item is a good bidding try, especially for beginners. Good luck !

I can try to bid for it, but it will probably go for way over my budget.
