·Offering for sale a nice 60’s Seamaster, reference 165.002 with vertically brushed silver dial and in good overall condition.
Time setting and automatic winding works fine and the watch keeps good time, but it doesn’t seem to hold a charge when manually wound. As such, being sold needing service.
Details:
Dial
Factory original silver dial with vertical brushing, tritium lume and applied logo and hour markers. Not restored, refinished or repainted.
In very good overall condition, the vertical brushing is really attractive. Very light spotting when viewed at certain angles which I’ve tried to show in the pictures.
The hands are original and correct with tritium matching the dial.
Case
Original stainless steel case, reference 165.002.
The case is nice and thick but has been lightly polished at some point.
Correct and original vintage Omega crown.
Screw down caseback with Seamonster.
Movement
Omega caliber 552, automatic movement without date.
22m serial dating to approximately 1965. In good condition, no mis-matched colouring on the plates nor any corrosion etc.
No documented service history although the inner case back seems to suggest it was serviced in 2021. It keeps good time and time setting functions work as they should. However, manual winding doesn’t seem to charge the mainspring. After winding the crown the watch only seems to run for 20-60 minutes. When worn on the wrist it keeps running fine. As such I suggest it needs a repair/service to resolve the manual winding issue.
Strap
Sold head only. If required I’m sure I can find a strap for it.
