Requesting the opinion of the experts. Is this Art Deco two tone Omega the real deal or an interesting fake or just a refurbish job? Appreciate any and all thoughts on this piece. Thanks very much!

Hands and case scream 1940’s. Dial screams 2010’s. The two screams are not in harmony.

Since we can’t see them condition of the case or the movement, there is no way to say anything more.

Is it just me or when you zoom into the ‘Omega’ text does there appear to be a rectangular box around the script as if the picture has been manipulated. Maybe it is just my screen.

Also I think the size of the E and the G appear to be larger than the O, the M and the A and if the watch is 40s/50s is the A not supposed to be squared off at the top? One of the more experienced members can maybe put me right on this.

There also appears to be an issue with the two tone demarcation circle line at the 7 o’clock position where it ‘bleeds’ into the sub second dial.

There’s something that doesn’t sit quite right for me about this dial.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I’m looking at this watch in an auction and the photos are not terribly useful. I’ve asked for a shot of the caseback, which I’m hoping to see later today. No shots available of the movement and the seller is too lazy or scared to mess with it. Overall the watch looks nice but I’m suspicious - especially since I haven’t ever seen quite this style of Omega. Thanks again all!

Sorry - can you explain “Portuguese customs stamp?” Thank you

Watches imported into Portugal were stamped by Customs to indicate duty had been paid.

Here is a picture of the movement. Looks legit - 15 jewel Omega 285 movement. So a few final questions... does the dial look refurbished? With this information and photo detail, approximately what would this watch be worth? Seller want $700... Thanks for your insight and help! I'm tempted if you all agree that this dial looks original - although it's still pretty pricy. Somewhat inclined to save the money and put it toward a classic Speedo...

Refinished means not original

it’s an artifact of jpeg compression: jpeg images are compressed in blocks, the uniform color of the dial and the text portion compress differently, so at high compression levels you see these noise patterns.
