    Hi All,

So I've been looking for a nice vintage 2846 or 2577 for well over a year or two and I found one on the bay for a third of what one can expect to pay from a retailer. However, it wasn't from a watch dealer and thought I would come on here for some reassurance...

Considering the price and the condition along with assurances from the seller that I could return it if there where issues, I decided to take a punt on it (despite the terrible photos). Having received it, I'm really pleased with it, the case and dial look in great condition. I've also had the case back off and the movement has been checked by a local watch specialist and all looks good. The dial is a lovely cream colour and shows little to no signs of ware, the lume on the markers has aged as I would expect and to my eye it looks OK, I've even found a listing of a similar model on this forum to compare it with: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-2846-cal-501-circa-1956-57.73861/ and again no obvious signs of a redial.

So, what do you think? Have I found my grail watch?

I cannot be 100% certain but it looks original to me. Though it is in almost too good of condition. Great pickup!

Both the wife and I thought the same, it looks hardly used and it may have just sat in someones draw for decades. Who knows!

Hard to say... that dial looks really clean... case looks nice. Curious to hear what more trained eyes have to say about that dial. Keeping fingers crossed you’ve found your watch!

Looks very nice to me. Case, dial and hands are all in similar condition and these eggshell finish dials tend to hold up a bit better than the various silver ones.

I think you've done well, although I don't know what you paid for it.

Get it serviced before wearing it!

    Congratulations on a nice acquisition.

Here’s my 2846 and an image from a catalog showing a few of the dial variations. The image is stolen from the internet and very likely this forum.

I will definitely take your advice and get it serviced. I paid just under 600 for it which is why I felt it was a bit too good to be true.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

Nasty thing.... simply horrible.... send it promptly to “Fritz’s Toxic Waste Disposal Service” for proper disposal.

No... no need to thank me, it’s what we’re here for.

    Beautiful watch by the way.

I would love to say you paid too much but considering beaters are going for over $500, I think you did great
