Vintage 2609 Original Buckle

Hi all,

New to this forum, so I’m excited to join the community.

I started my watch collecting journey with an Omega Vintage 2609. I’m working to get it “restored” to as close to as original as possible. I’ve researched and sourced an original crown for the piece, but I’m having a difficult time determining the original buckle. Upon checking the serial number, it seems that the piece was most likely produced in ‘47. Not sure if that will help anyone determine it from there. I’ve attached a photo of it here.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi there, and welcome to the forum. I'd prefer better photos, but at first glance the dial appears to be repainted. If so, I don't know if you really want to go down the rabbit hole of finding an authentic 1940s buckle.

Thanks for the insight. What about the dial makes it seem repainted? Not contesting you—I’m genuinely curious as my knowledge is very limited.

The text, tick marks, marker positions, sub-dial, dial texture.

But if you want the best feedback, please post some better photos. Sometimes poor photos can lead to incorrect judgements.
