Up for sale is this super cool Roger Tallon-designed Men's LIP Tank with black case & rare automatic movement. The vast majority of the French LIP Tallons of this period have quartz movements so finding an auto version is quite uncommon. Tallon's fantastic industrial design still resonates today and in fact the current incarnation of the company has reissued this model and others in the line. But make no mistake: this is an original 1970s version in Excellent to Near Mint overall condition and with its original LIP-signed rubber bracelet. For the man (or fashion forward lady) who wants to make a style statement that a conventional watch can't carry off, this is the piece for you. Best of all, it has just been fully overhauled by my watchmaker and comes with a 6-month movement warranty for all normal non-abusive use.
The asking price for this fantastic cult classic LIP Tallon is $775 USD. This price includes fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire or Paypal with split fees (+2% to the buyer). CASE & BACK: This fantastically designed tank watch with screwed water resistant steel back measures the gents' size 31mm x 41mm, which like most rectangular watches wears quite large on the wrist. The black case, which I assume to be anodized aluminum, is in Near Mint to Excellent condition with just one small area of paint loss on the lower right corner and no real marks to speak of. The steel screw in back is unpolished and has a few small scratches, Excellent+ condition. The inner caseback is corrosion free.
DIAL & HANDS: Super cool factory printed 2-piece circular dial with sunken black dial and pie pan orange-white minute track and aperture for the date at "6" in absolutely Mint condition. White minute and Dayglo orange hour hand are likewise Mint, as is the white sweep seconds hand.
MOVEMENT: As mentioned above, this great LIP features a rare automatic movement under the hood, a high quality and tough Durowe "Duromat" cal. 7525/2 with 25-jewels, quickset date and shock protection. It has just been fully overhauled by my watchmaker and so is running great and guaranteed for 6 months of normal, non-abusive use.
CROWN: Original signature Tallon large smooth red crown in Very Good condition with a bit of paint loss where it connects with the stem and one other small mark. This funky crown winds and pulls out to the quickset date and time setting position exactly as designed.
CRYSTAL: The flat non-beveled circular acrylic crystal has some very minor scratches from wear, Excellent.
STRAP: This cool LIP Automatic comes on its original signed rubber strap with wide tang buckle. The strap is Near Mint with only some slight "frosting" from age and no tears. At its longest, it should fit a 7.5" wrist if not a bit larger. And with perforations running nearly its entire length it can be sized quite small, as well.
I make absolutely NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form.
This great vintage LIP Tallon is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.
