Vintage 1803

Hi all,

I have not a very active member here in this sub forum, and really I am new to the Omega forum (OF). However, I have been quite active over the years within other forums. I just seem to have lost my mojo over the last few years but thanks to OF it seem to have been re-kindled. Previously my interest in watches has always been with vintage, military and S.S sport Rolex and Tudor watches (Submariners and Seadwellers).I started at the vintage end and have recently moved over to the newer Rolex models.
This being said I have of late had a strong draw towards a vintage acrylic 1803 Day-Date. A Balls Out Tony Soprano model in yellow gold with a president bracelet!
The type I have been after is of course a pan-pie lemon or gold dial with second numbers and black enameled indices. The trouble is finding a good one as they are getting on a bit in years. The good news is I have finally found one in good condition, barely polished and with minimally stretched president bracelet and clean dial.No paper but with boxes. Only issue is that the date wheel is not in English.

what鈥檚 your thoughts on her before I pull the trigger?

Looks pretty good in the pics provided. Hard to say more as we don't have any full on dial pics. The non-english date would bother me, but that is a personal preference. Either it has been babied or there has been an attempt at polishing (the top of the lugs look brushed, which is not familiar to me). Let's see what others say.

The date wheel wouldn't bother me half much as the bracelet.

Unless you are a pimp, a hip hop artist or some type of Trumpster-persona, you cannot wear this watch with a straight face on the bracelet in 2016.

...and I have seen tastefully toned down 1803s on a fine leather strap that actually looked gentlemanly and liked them a lot.

This one... not so much 馃憥

Ahhh...the date wheel.... if speaking a couple of languages, there is no such thing as wrong date disk... 馃憤

Ps; sorry I hope you are not perceiving this as dissing you I just give you my honest opinion (and since I'm on my phone I can't be arsed to sugar coat it)

I tend to agree with @al128 comments. The 1803 on a variety of straps is a great watch.

While the bracelet is somewhat of a joke by today's standards, it is a classic, and wears incredibly well.

It looks like a cherry, and that is always good, but I like the Presidents that have been worn to develop a soft warm patina on the gold.

Go for it, it is a classic. There is a time and place for an all gold President...like a trip to South Florida, North Jersey, a smoke filled poker game, a strip club, or buying a new red Corvette.

Sorry to disagree with you all but the punch of a Day-Date is in the president bracelet, on a leather strap it's not a real Day-Date just another gold watch. It's the condition of this DD 1803 from 1977 that seems to have went straight over your heads? Diamond dials are another thing but this is horological vintage class to be worn with black tie and on very special occasions like strip clubs

Off to the South Florida strip club after the poker game in my red Corvette after my chest waxing.

Cheers
M
P.S. Top of the lugs factory correct.

Red Corvette and the yellow gold day date...things I associate with 70 year olds and 14 year olds in terms of taste...

I agree, the bracelet makes the watch. Without the president bracelet it's just a day date. Of course wear what u like.

As to the watch, better pics would help. But from what u provided it looks good. The case looks like it hasn't been polished much. The bracelet has some stretch but not bad. The dial looks like black indexes with track number, very very cool. Overall a very nice DD. If the price is right, go for it.

I blame it on the autoconnect.
