Recently got a hold of this vintage 166.0209 with a gray dial. The cal. Is 1022

As I was browsing online, I came across the PAF variant of this reference, and it was the only one with this gray color dial. ( as far as I could tell ).
Despite the color similarities, there are some key differences:
- missing seamaster logo
-day wheel is in german , not english
- missing engraving on caseback

Unlike the PAF watches, the caseback is not engraved- it could have been polished as it does show wear around the case edges.

I’d be really hally to learn more about this dial and watch.

I am very curious about it, more precisely the dial- since I didn’t find many examples of this dial, except the notably different PAF variant.

Im a bit confused. Is the watch on the foto yours, or is that one that you found online?

The dial seems legit and exists without seamaster writing. Also the caseback exists without engraving (on the outside).
I'd worry more about the two different colors of date wheels..

Sorry for the confusion. The watch on the photo is mine. The day wheel does seems to be in diferent color as well as in different language, although the color of the date wheel differs also on the below online model,

I am attaching the photo of the military dial found online below.

Omega released effectively the same watches with different dial configurations, and yes, some of these were to just skip printing 'seamaster', some were 'geneve', etc. Day wheel was available in quite a few languages, likely set for wherever it was sold. IIRC, you could/can have a watchmaker swap them with a 'new' part at any point in their life.

As far as the coloring, the day being that darker yellow color is often aging due to sunlight (and if you use the quickset date, you can see some dates are often darker than others!). IF the day was swapped later in life, or for some reason didn't get as much sun, it can be darker too.

ah that makes sense. I wasn’t aware of that but it makes sense seeing a lot of variations of these dials
