It looks awesome, they did make it unique enough that it doesn’t look like a Speedy Tuesday continuation which some of the Japan Olympic models were guilty of being (Apollo 11 35th / Gemini 4)

It is still quite close to the ST1, though, it’s like a Speedy Wednesday

I like it a lot though!

Looks nice. Guess Omega also raised prices again? This one is $10,5 USD, and the 3861 SS is $9k.

The white one has not been increased. The panda SS has a ceramic bezel and rhodium plated hands and markers additionally compared to the white dial.

The white one is 1000 more than when I bought mine in 2024. I don't see why this one is 1300 more than that in steel, ceramic notwithstanding. I do like it, but not happening anytime soon because I have four 3861s already.

Sharp looking watch, maybe even nicer than the ST1 that I owned until recently. But getting pricey at $10,400. If I was starting from a clean sheet I'd forgo this new one and go straight for the Ed White 321, the nicest Speedmaster since Omega cancelled the original 321 in the 60's. They are generally available now.

It seems to me, that with these changes, Omega wants to go directly competing with Daytona. Till now, Speedy has been seen as the luxury chronograph in the the toolish niche, and Daytona in the fancy niche. Like Omega is saying - we are in both niches now, while Rolex remains only in one of them.

I always wonder if Omega loses out to other chronographs in this range because it's a manual where Zenith, Breitling, Rolex and others are automatic. People can be funny in having to wind a watch every day.

Fratello videos always have this weird unnatural lighting like a bad vintage filter for some reason. Here's one in boutique lighting, but still gives a better idea of how it looks.

Boo! Applied markers.Boo!

Agree 100%. The watch just doesn’t read as a Speedmaster esp the SS version. Others with applied markers work but these just seem wrong.

I just visited my local Boutique. The Panda is stunning in person. It really does look like a different watch compared to the standard black dial Speedmaster. The black on the Panda is significantly and noticeably darker, deeper, richer and more glossy compared to the standard, that includes the bezel. For me the sandwich dial with the sunken registers really make it feel more expensive and makes it look like a different watch. The hands are more legible than the standard steel hands, see my comparison with the meteor dial. But for me I would rate the legibility which is a deal breaker for me (I flipped my black dialed Daytona because I could not read the time) as just barely acceptable. I was still able to read the time on the watch looking down at it. It failed my test of standing in front of a full length mirror about 4 feet away and being able to read the time on the watch. (The standard speedy and white dial passes this test.). I think I am going to buy this. It ticks all my boxes for an upgrade on the Speedmaster to a more luxury looking watch. I think this reference can compete on equal footing with the Daytona. Just my 2 cents.

thanks for sharing your thoughts......you provided phenomenal insight and photos...the middle pic is a great comparison of those 2 Speedys...

Would be interesting to see a side by side with the ST1

A guy on instagram has already done this, with ST1 fit with 3861 bracelet for nearly the same configuration.

It ends up that they are looking completely different watches, even thought the dial scheme is the same.

I feel opposite thing, gladder that I went with the ST1, this one is stunning, but not my taste.

Maybe because of the dial.

Two plates -> allowing recessed parts of dial be able to be polished, including the sub-dials.

And there’s also multiple layers of lacquer (20+ according to Fratello article).

In Fratello’s article comments, @Robert-Jan confirmed that the glass is the same with standard Moonwatch (Omega sent them wrong information initially).
Thanks for pointing this out - good to have it confirmed.
