It looks repainted. The word "Omega" is crooked. One of the two indicators of 12 hours is badly put., Lack of paint underneath the star

Also, It is possible and probably the watch fell and the indexes were badly placed back

I don't think it's lack of paint, looks like old glue from previous attempt at sticking star.

I know you wanted 'expert' opinions... but here are some comments on the pictures you provided.

Yes, looks like the 'star' has 'fallen off' and been reglued (and not done very well). you can even see some 'marks' under the Star
    on the dial surface itself.
I also noticed that the 'battons' at the 12 noon poston are also not aligned with each other.
seems to be poor quality if in fact, the Omega factory did this.

I searched online (images) across a hundred or so Omega Constellations (of all types) and never saw any that 'exactly' match
    this 'dial, hands, battons'

    again, just my observations.
    Cheers

    Thanks all pointed duly noted.
I have found another image of a similar dial. The batons and hands are lumed with radium i think.

I don't think this dial is repainted - the fonts are spot on for this era
The marks around the star may be dial degradation rather than glue -which could have twisted the star - you can also see it beginning to appear around some of the indices
The mismatched 12 indices have been seen on other examples - the left hand 12 index is slightly 'blunted' (as is the 4 index) which makes it look misaligned
The 'Omega' is slightly off but on the whole, I think this is more likely 'a bad day at the office'

The lume may not be radium - more likely tritium - as this is the transitional period where Ts didn't appear on the dial

    nice case with some scratches
probably wrong crystal retaining ring with generic crystal
and replacement crown of course (as has your second example)

any more images -pics of back and/or insides?

Interesting that on this similar dial the G in Omega is similiarly slightly crooked.

I am always a bit amused about the nitpickers when it comes to the discussion re-dial or not...

Firstly Omega did not do the dials themselves in their factory - they were bought from dial makers
Indices, Omega wording (gold) and logo, star, etc. have been put on the dial (and riveted) by hand... allowing Monday examples...

Secondly QC was far from the standard we are observing today

Many thanks for your explanation it comes as a big relief. I was convinced myself that the fonts are correct and was beginning to wonder how they can be re-applied so accurately.
I don't have any pics of inside but I do know it's a 551 with 18xxx serial number.

Hey, that's the gold version of my little omega.

    20170531_161909.jpg

Yes, mine has a bad redial, but the original crown :p

Yours looks very good. As the experts said, the dial looks original. I have seen several constellation with a star not perfectly aligned so not a big deal.. Also, it is normal for this model to not have the "officially certified" script.
The case looks sharp, only the replacement crown make it less "original".

If by anymean, yours is a redial, I would like to have the adress of the guy who did the job. ;)

    To make it clear:
I also try to avoid re-dials when I buy watches unless it is a very rare bird, then I may make an exceptions.

IMHO the dial of the OP is original - hence my comment about the nitpickers

You didn't say it was a gold case!
    That 'medallion'....
Given the condition - depending on price -any small issues with the dial make it a desirable Connie in my book.
    Have you bought it?
If not - what's the asking price?

Yes I have bought the watch hence my relief when you guys confirmed the authenticity. The star was bugging me so found a local watchmaker who re-aligned it for me today - see pic. Other than a few small scratches the case does seem in really good nic. Thanks again for you help.
