    Hi all,
I've just acquired a couple of old Ranchero dials from a trustworthy source.
No problem with the black one - but the brown one is very strange.
The dial feet and sub second hole are correct for a 26* caliber movement but it's around 3mm oversize - probably right for a 38mm case.
Clearly it's wrong - but nonetheless I find it a very attractive dial.
The question is - why would anyone make it ?
There are plenty of 30mm blank dials around to re-paint to 'create' Ranchero dials so why go 'oversize ??
It would be interesting to hear any ideas.

Both refinished dials - just done on different dial sizes. The larger one may be an attempt to peddle an oversized watch as a "Ranchero."

Ranchero dials are a minefield. You positive the smaller one is original? The minute ticks should not bleed into the subseconds dial. Also see that the Omega symbol should be skinnier and have a larger arc.

See original black dial for comparison (seen in the First $10k Ranchero thread).

On the 30 mm dial on the right the O in Omega and the R in Ranchero are almost touching. Should they not have a little more space between them?

I'm a relative novice re Ranchero's, so I bow to the greater knowledge of the forum.
However, regarding the 'bleeding' of the minute ticks into the subseconds dial.
The picture below is of a pretty expensive current eBay offering FAP Ranchero, quoted as all original with Archive Extract.
That also seems to have the same minute tick characteristics as the one I posted.

There are additional concerns with this one. Omega extract just tells when and how it left the factory. They can't know the amount of modifications made later in its life. I would avoid. :coffee:

Not everything expensive is good, but almost everything good is expensive.
Look at the tail on the eBay example 9 vs the original DIV posted. The enthusiasm for serifs was a bit out of hand on the 12 and 3 too.
Your OP 30mm dial also has the bogus 9. This in addition to the other tells that were previously mentioned and a couple that haven’t been.
