Hello all. I bought this 2005 114270 36mm Explorer a couple of weeks ago and it arrived Friday from @mswilks. I called dibs on it 2 and a half yrs ago. I had no idea he would message me right back that he would sell it right then. I had just bought another watch and my watch fund was at zero. I have always had a self imposed rule that I only use funds from the sale of other watches or gold and silver coins that I collect and wheel and deal in and explained to Mike that it might be a while. He was very patient with me, I offered several times to let him sell it elsewhere, but like a true Gentleman, he hung onto it for me and I would occasionally update him that I was nearing the sale price of the watch. He is such a gentleman that he twice said the watch market is softening, I will take a bit off the price. I was nearing the full amount earlier this month and asked my wife about robbing the house $ of the last $500, using the excuse Mike had waited long enough and she replied, "That’s your rule, I never said you couldn't just buy a watch." So, here is the watch, I have the full kit and I couldn't be happier. Oh, and I should mention i called dibs on the watch cuz it is from May of 2005, the month and yr of my daughter's birth. I am hoping, now that ladies are wearing these 36mm Rolex's, that she will wear it some day when I am gone. I find it to be the most comfortable, balanced on my wrist and perfect low key, no bling, no bs Rolex/watch I have ever worn and although I am in the honeymoon period, I can see how I can now bear to part with more watches and replace the house $ soon. And at a friend's shop I saw a beautiful 14k gold basket weave bracelet today that I think my wife is going to have to get as a thank you. And thank you again, Mike. You are a great seller and very understanding to have put up with me for 2.5 yrs.

Really nice. How do you like the oyster bracelet I love the look, feel and sturdiness but it loves to pick up scratches. They sell those kits that cover the polished areas, I just happened across an ad for them I don’t know if I want to get that geeky but I’m not above it. I picked up a DJ with a similar configuration and wore it to work on a day i unexpectedly got someone housed felt obliged to move her in her place considering she can’t lift a bag full of her close. When I was done I noticed the first scratches.

It’s not that big a deal but it was like day 3. I was definitely eyeing an explorer but at this point in time I utilize the date frequently.

Regardless I would have been quite happy with an explorer it’s such a nice look. Impressive if you can cease buying watches now. Shoot I was arguing with myself about a microbrand with an interesting dial.

So good on you for the accomplishment. I hope it brings you many years of joy. Looks great.

@Walrus, I haven't had it long enough to know how easily it scratches. I do think it is my Grail, but I am sure I will buy other watches, it is just I am just entering the honeymoon phase with this watch and right now feel this will always be the watch I come back to. It wears awesome, the most comfortable bracelet I have ever worn, right up there with the Omega BoR. Everything about it is perfect. It always seems like any other bracelet or leather banded watch always sits just a smidge one way or the other on my wrist and this doesn't. It is the perfect weight, I am just in love, head over heels. I love 36mm and don't care for anything larger. I have always been drawn to the smaller watches I saw on my grandfathers' and uncles' wrist when growing up in the late 60's to 70's.....32-34mm..........for me, 36 is larger, but still just enough to fill my 7.25 inch wrist. It isn't bling, it isn't loud, it isn't boasting. I can wear a Rolex, walk into any room and the only person who even realizes it, is me. And that is how I like it. Sorry for rambling and probably still not fully get across what I am trying to convey and how much I appreciate this watch.

I do think that 36mm is the right size for an Explorer. I had a 114270 and also a 39mm 214270, and I liked the former more. Not enough to keep it long-term though, so we'll see if this truly ends up being your final watch. Not sure there's any such thing. 😗

Well, I'm very happy to have been able to help out with this special transaction. The watch looks great on you, and I totally agree that 36mm is the way to go with an Explorer. I'm sure your daughter will treasure it, but don't head down that path yet!

That’s a beautiful watch and fits you perfectly.
If you ever want to break tradition, I’ll leave this here. I’d love to have an E36 one day. I think it’s the ultimate daily driver.
