After feeling somewhat foolish regarding my aborted Independence Day Weekend foray with a "not so special" 145.022-69, I'm doing much better today with the arrival of a very early Speedie Professional with assymetrical case, the 105.012-63. The watch seems to be in fine, mostly original condition. Movement number 20520xxx puts it among the first of this reference. Dial is in nice shape with original lume intact. There are no "T"s surrounding the SWISS MADE. It is the first Professional dial and it is rare.

Movement looks fine and clean although this watch's 321 transitional movement is "supposed" to have a lozenge index and a symmetrical clutch bridge. Instead it has the newer asymmetrical bridge and the older arrow shaped index. No idea why. During service perhaps or that's the way it was made. Additionally the watch has a later 1969 vintage 1035 bracelet (normally found on the 19mm 105.003 Ed White) and correct #16, 20mm end links. Easy enough to swap the 1035 for a JB Champion NASA or a 7912.

The hands, short/ fat pushers and crystal, I believe, are all correct. The case appears sharp. The DON bezel is in great condition. All in all, this Speedie was well cared for, running well and probably did not see much wrist time. I'm very pleased with it.

Do not worry: this is not a transitional movement and is correct as it is. Notwithstanding the number of services, it has been treated well and seems to be in good shape.
Even the plexi seems original and should not have the Omega logo.
Overall, a fine example of the "real moonwatch", without taking anything away from other, less historical, references.

Most 105.012-63 and 64 show an original plexi which is less domed and has no Omega logo.

Do someone know why those ref only ? Original plexi on earlier ref have the old omega logo engraved so why only on 105012-63 and 64?

No idea. I noticed this fact more than thirty years ago, when I started working on Speedmasters.
However, we must take into account that plexis were (and are) routinely changed during services. As a consequence, it is difficult to draw conclusions.

Very nice and rare watch !!
Movement seems ok for me (about the symmetrical clutch bridge)
You just have to find a correct crown and it would be perfect !

Thank you all for your great comments! FYI, the crystal has the Omega emblem. No sure if it is original asit could have been changed during a service.
