Stumbled across this post of a project/modded speedy. I personal find it gorgeous(maybe a little too much red with the subdial hands).

    Here's the link:

    And pic of course IMG_2278.PNG IMG_2279.PNG IMG_2280.PNG

Note: I just realized that this is from a known eBay seller. I do not have any affiliation with the individual, nor am I promoting their sales/reputation. I do not know if it is for sale either. I just think it looks cool

I like it! Love the red hands on the sub dials. The engraved movement... not my thing.

I would need to see it in person, as the photo doesn't do much for me. The mix of solver, blue, white and red seems a little forced to me, and not as complimentary as one would hope for.

    I like!

Im going sit and debate the red 60 on the bezel for a bit in my head. Does it improve the look? Is it technically correct on a fixed bezel? Does it matter? Do I have to much time on my hands?

Not a fan of the engraving of the movement... not exactly Armin Strom quality there.

Looks like an 80 year old alcoholic with the shakes plated and hacked up an old Tissot and called it an 861

Wow that looks really cool! It's like a Monaco had a child with a Speedmaster.

Thing is its not even an 861, its a pile of bits made to look like an 861 built off a Lemania 873 non-Omega main plate. If it came up on eBay I'd actually report it as a counterfeit based on that.

Possibly just an Omega chrono bridge. I'm assuming the electroplating changed all the tolerances within the caliber, wonder what that does to accuracy

Well, since a typical plating thickness would be 10 microns, that is 1/100th of a mm. Since the only dimensions that would be affected would be end shakes, the effect would be minimal and easily compensated for by moving the jewels. In most cases would not make much difference even if you didn't move them, as the range of acceptable end shakes are fairly large on most wheels.

    Cheers, Al

I don't think anyone on the forums would ever say you have too much time on your hands... [emoji23]

No, it's not really great, is it? Makes you appreciate modern finishing a bit more, even if it's done by a machine as Omega's in-house are done.

Yep, I'd report it as well. At least WatchCo Seamasters are using real Omega movements. This might as well be labeled as a bit nicer than a Mumbai Special.

I don't know if I'd report it. Depends on how it was worded. It's not a fake anymore then a 32 Ford is with a chevy crate motor. There are no fake parts in it.

The movement engravings make it look Egyptian for some reason

If I remember correctly that movement was sold by Watchco on eBay not long ago.

    Looks GREAT, movement issues notwithstanding.
