Hi all,

this watch is just in transit, but I took some pics. If I´m right they have built only 479 handwind "Chronomètre Royal" watches between 1952 and 1962; sub-second, central seconds (cal. P2007/BS + 2008/BS), three (ore more) case types (short lugs, straight lugs, faceted lugs, some screw downs, some press-ins - don´t know if small- and center-second-cases have diffrerent heights) - plus different dials and shades of gold.
This one is 18k red gold, 35mm, case and movement in fine shape; just the dial has some issues.
And it´s got the most beautiful hacking device I ever saw in a wrist watch movement...

I'm still looking for the even rarer Chronomètre Royal with Cheese

Pretty sure you can order the optional cheese on the modern reissue.

sorry, a further horrible mistake: this is cal. 1008, not 2008...

The lugs on the Chronometre Royal are unusual but lovely, nice score!

I love this watch.
If you look at the top image and the Vacheron applied logo, each of the lugs forms one section of the Maltese cross. Quite clever.

The movements on these are so beautiful. I have an incoming Royal Chronometer "Batman" in WG - similar to the one below

Edit: they do have fun with the lugs!

Does yours have the royal chronometre printed on the dial? Can I pre-dibs😜?

I like this simple version better, missed out on one last year.

It has the Royal Chronometer on the dial, and a little diamond(?) at the center of the maltese cross. I'll post pix when it arrives, but most likely a keeper unless it does not like me.

Edit:
I see Hodinkee selling the exact conifguration that I have incoming. Exactly the same except that my incoming includes the bracelet:

Wow. That's a really really nice watch. Love that it comes with the old bracelet.
.. which is too short! Need about an inch more to make it work for me. Tips?

A good jeweler may be able to jury rig a clasp extension

Exactly - I would do the same. A good jeweler might be able to do something with the clasp.
