today i receive a quote to overhaul my 1945 vintage omega Turler. In the quote they want to replace the glass and the crown . My question is if I go a head with this will it affect the value of the watch and the desirability to a collector later in in life .

    Thanks
    Steve

Not as long as they replace them with the correct parts.

On the crystal, no problem. I suspect that it's old and not sealing very well.

On the crown, not really an issue to replace it, but be sure to get the old one returned. The replacement may not be of the same style and if you were to sell, the new owner might want to put the original crown back.

    Hope this helps,

Just let them know, no polish, don't touch the
dial or hands, Omega parts only.
As a price guide, I pay $170 to overhaul a movement
like yours. Glass should be ~$40-60. , crown, $30-$50.

I think some smaller reputable shops would charge less, if you look around. Here is one example: http://watchguy.co.uk/price-list/, but he probably has a long waiting list though.
