Whilst on the hunt for a 1948 rose gold museum watch in New York my heart leapt when I found this in a little jewellers and watch repairers on the East Side. Hopes were quickly crushed however. It's a 1954 266 movement. Very tidy. 18k case and snap on back. Correct crown. Redialled with a WatchCo replacement I guess.
The owner tried to pass off as original with a price to match. I think he doesn't realise himself. I have not yet gone back to renegotiate. What do the esteemed members of the forum see as to its value. Obviously not an investment piece but it still looks handsome on the wrist and I am still considering it. Original rg 18k buckle and omega lizard strap. It is lovely.....

I will still continue to look for the Museum 1948 model. [IMG]

What is the case reference ? The movement is worth about $300 in good condition. The dial about $200. The case depends on if it is an in demand reference, but a least the value of the gold. Figuring the assembly and service, I would say about anywhere from $1200. to what you want to pay.
But certainly not near the value of this.

    Thanks.
I saw it around $1500-1800. It was very tidy. He was asking double.
I will keep looking for the 1948 Hommage Museum model.

I am building one of those as we speak... Not cheap, but I really want one and they are not readily available. I will post a photo once completed. I have an 18k rose gold case, 37.5mm, and was just able to locate the dial which is a perfect match to my current dial. I would like to place new hands on it, any ideas where to find? Looked at Ofrei already.

    Here is my dial:

And here is the base watch, the movement dates to 1943 and is currently torn down and being completely restored (was already in decent shape):

The dial is in an official Omega case, and is wrapped...not sure about it being Omega, I would think it to be a redial. Either way, excited!

You want the hour hand to be 1.40 opening and 9.8mm length(or as close in length as they still stock) and the minute hand 0.75 opening and 14.5mm length (again get the length as close as you can . The subseconds hand I also got from ofrei , in their assortment pack.

You could get blue leaf hands or gold and have them plated. Blue hands would look fine on your dial too.

A word of caution : sometimes Ofrei sends hands of the wrong opening diameter. You may want to advise your watchmaker to test them out on the pinion before the dial is installed..
