I believe he's looking to know the current market value of a -69 Speedy with a brown dial. For whatever reason.

@bags1971 you can refer to the price chart on Speedmaster101.com - add some premium for the brown dial or not, there are people who will value it and others not. If you need a ballpark figure, the price chart should be enough. And be honest with yourself regarding the condition to value it.

Hey, that brownie, pictures or it didn't happen ! :whistling:

You have added pictures of a movement, and two watches.
Perhaps I am being thick, but I do not know what you are asking to be valued out of the three objects you have illustrated.
Happy to help, but make it idiot proof for this idiot

Ok. If you went looking for a tropical 145.022-69 your options are limited. Dealers like to ask 10k + but my feeling is that most trade $7000 -12,000.

Yours has a less valuable bezel.

There is a 145.022-69 for sale and unsold at $5200 but yours has the tropical dial. I am thinking yours might be serial 2960xxxx? Or 2911xxxx. If it is not one of these serials it is unusual, but not unheard of to have the tropical dial.

So much of the value of a tropical is in the arbitrary attraction. Sellers always manipulate photos, and it’s very hard to get a good feel of a tropical dial. Multiple shots in various lights with another dial and skin help to make that judgment.

So with a gun to my head, I would say for an insurance retail replacement value, you would need $10,000 to replace this. If you were to sell this at eBay then you might get 6000 to 9000, depending on how good it is, because I can’t tell based on the photos.

Also be careful with the insurance value. Some companies take the “retail value for insurance” and employ a loss adjuster, who based on the retail margin, goes to a wholesaler expecting to replace the item at wholesale, ie half the retail value. Just be sure to ask the insurance company what actually happens in the event of a loss, and how much of the valuation you will receive in the event of a successfull claim.

On the way to going broke I could afford Chubb Insurance, homeowners, car and valuable articles. Under their valuable articles they will pay up to 50% more than your agreed value on any specified item. Simply stated: You agree on a $20,000. valuation and if that item is lost or stole you have up to $30,000. to replace it as long as it's similar to what's been lost. As always, you get what you pay for :)

Its a strange one spacefruit as my watch guy looked at the dial under his microscope and couldn't find any scratches or evidence it was there but I'm with you its been rubbed off as it did have a non omega glass fitted.

I did ask when I bought it but being owned by the sellers brother in law who had died no one knew

One good thing is there is a box and paperwork somewhere in her sisters house she remembers seeing them a few years ago and once found will let me have them.
