Valuation - Vintage Omega 9ct Gold (heavily worn) watch

Blarb:
A little backstory here - I've been looking for a vintage Omega watch for a while, I wanted a watch with some patina on it since I can't imagine wearing a pristine watch. I've been keeping a very loose eye out for about 6 years, then:

About a week a go I was just sitting here watching an online auction and this Omega came up. The hammer price was £350.00 (ended up being 460 after fees and postage). I was a little bit impulsive when bidding, and I didn't expect to get it, but then the timer ticked down and here we are.

About the watch:
It has no papers, no box, the strap isn't original and as you can see it's pretty heavily worn. It's a 32mm case and is solid 9CT gold from the description on the auction. I don't have any specific model numbers for you because the back has never been opened. Since buying the lot I've been told this is a really bad thing. 🙁 But the watch does run, although its time keeping ability hasn't been confirmed.

I have two questions for you lovely people:

1. From a purely financial point of view, have I been ripped off here? Either way I'm happy about my purchase, because I like the piece. And I think that should be the reason for buying a watch anyway. But i'm curious since I have no experience in this field.

2. I'm going to assume people will recommend a service, is there anything I should watchout (sorry) for when taking it to my local shop

It is my opinion that you have not been ripped off here ! I like the look of your watch .. obviously the gold back plate may be very thin .. the total weight of gold is probably low .. You should get the watch open in order to check the movement .. and probably go for a service ..

I think you did okay.

32mm is just small and specially with a 16mm strap but that depends on your wrist.
I had a 18kt gold UG in 32mm but never really got used to it and ended up selling it.

It weighs 31.5 grams - so yeah, i'd imagine most of that is the movement and other stuff. But having a gold baseline certainly makes me feel better, even if it's 10g... Mostly i just like the aesthetic and wear on it though - and I haven't seen many online (I've looked quite a bit) especially this variation with the subdial and the marked 12, 3 & 9 - which i'm quite fond of actually.

I have quite small wrists. I've been in to a few stores and tried some watches on, as a result I've specifically been looking for this size as it fits / suites me best. But yes, I'm going to see how I get on with the gold. I think because it's heavily worn I might like it better, I can't see myself in a pristine gold watch. I'm not that guy, pal!
