Valuation help please

Hi everyone. This is my great grandfather's watch and I have been trying to get a valuation with a view to sell. My local jewellers have not been very helpful so I wondered if anyone can identify it and give an approximate value please . All I know about it is he may have bought it in the 1950s (1954?) after coming out of the army.

To me this looks to be a Seamaster Reference 14725/14745/14765 from ~1960. The watch is on 8260 "peanut" bracelet with # 50 end links. The way to confirm would be to have the watch opened up by a professional so you can confirm the reference number and movement serial number. Regarding a sale, your best bet is to gather up all the information you can, take clear high quality photos of the watch, and then auction in on eBay.

Agree it’s a ,1962 Seamaster ‘pre DeVille’. Sought after watches but the dial is in poor shape.
I’d say it worth around £400

Yea I’d say 400 quid or a little less due to the dial damage

Pounds ? 400 Pounds ? With that Dial ?
UK prices keep in mind, if it were in the window at Burlington Arcade there it would have 1800 quid on the tag.

$200-$300 for the watch, imo. maybe $75 for bracelet. I just think the condition will make it hard to sell if priced too high

I can only really comment on my market. If that were put on eBay UK auction it would go to £400 give or take. Around £100 for bracelet and £300 for the watch.

I get that people here might not pay that for it (I wouldn’t pay £400 for it), but that’s what I expect it to go for on eBay, so imo that’s the value.

Edit: maybe that is a bit strong, perhaps more like £350. But, it’s very rare for a full size deville with bracelet to sell for less than this on eBay UK.

£400 ? you will probably get the most money if you list it for auction on Ebay

I agree that listing on eBay is your best bet. How does it look inside? If you feel confident opening it up, put photos of the inside on eBay too to increase chances of a good price.
