Hello, I'm a new member. I'm looking for your advice. I got an offer for a nice Moonwatch 145.022-74. The Price ist 2.500 Euro. As i can see from the Pictures: - Case is slidly polished - Plexi Glas with logo - Correct bezel but changed in the past (incorrect bezel as I know now, thanks to the forum) - Corrext but changed hands - pushers and crown seems to be original - Dial original with nice patina But: - no box, no papers, - Service sign from 2002 and somewhen before - no orginal strap. It comes with a nice second market strap. I like the watch, but I don't know whether the price for a nice watch is to high, as it comes without belongings. Thank you for your opinion Marc
As I'm sure others will also say behind me, we need to see as many pictures as you can provide to give an accurate assessment of value. Just at face value of your post, the price doesn't seem out of the realm of normal for that reference.
Thank you. I checked of course http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/ and the price seems to be inbetween "running" and "good". But is the price for a "full set" or the blank watch without a strap....?
Price guide is for the watch head only and is just a guide line only. Generally, you'd aim for the good (not running) category. That means beside everything is *period * correct, you need to factor in the full service cost also, which is about another $1000 on top for this watch.
A little oxidation, the screws look polished (round borders?), an the horn (is this the right name) has seen a lot of tooling. Okay for this age?
I would say that the price chart is for just the watch only, not anything else. It's just a guide based on recent sales and market observations. The creator of that fine website is on these forums, so perhaps he can chime in as well.
running = ~ 2.000 because I factored already the service and get out a "good" one for ~3.000 in total?
The bezel is incorrect - that's a modern replacement bezel. Finding the correct bezel will be difficult and will cost at least $500. Those are the back of the lugs, and strap-change marks on a 40yr old watch aren't a big issue! Just make sure they don't extend to the front.
I meant good, my wording error. I've corrected that word and add that service cost is on top for this watch. Getting period correct parts for this watch is not too costly, but it would take some time and effort.
Tough to tell for sure from the photo of the dial, but the lume appears to be missing from the hour indices. Also, the hands may be service replacements with luminova instead of tritium. Not sure if that bothers you or not, you have to decide what looks good to your eye.
The screws are normal - you have to go back a bit further generally to see the flat polished screws. Case corrosion can certainly happen on these, so not unusual, and the marks on the underside of the lugs are also pretty typical. Cheers, Al
Thank you for your answer. Why is the bezel incorrect? Yes, it is not the original one. It is a service part, but does it not fit to the age? DN90 is correct. What is incorrect?
The font on the number 7 for 70 and 75 is new because it doesn't have the longer tail on the front. The correct DN90 bezel should not have an accent over the E in TACHYMETRE. The dot should also be next to the 70, not below.
Correct original bezel should look like this. Notice the font for the 7 and for the word TACHYMETRE. Dot position next to the 70. Thanks to speedmaster101.com.
okay, but this is a pre-74 Stepdial. The bezel ist the same from pre-74 to -74? Thanks to all of you! Great Support!
