The case was 18-karat gold. What it was made of is secondary, however. Finding someone to make a replacement is the bigger factor. If the case was melted, it is surprising to me that the 21-karat gold rotor wasn’t also sent to the melt!

I bought it with out the case because of privacy concerns as it was engraved with names.

Had you not considered taking the case as well, and removing the engraving! Or was the seller not willing to make the names known? Sounds sketchy to me! The serial number on the movement would likely disclose as much or more than engraving on the case. Had you not thought of that? On a significant watch such as this, no doubt all serial numbers were recorded somewhere. Good luck,

This is an 1158 movement which is based on the Valjoux 7750. The 1158 is a delux version of the Omega 1155 which was used in the Speedmaster date 38mm 3811.50.JO for the Albertville Olympics. Since the Valjoux 7750 is fairly common, you might be able to find a suitable case (assuming you can find a good watchmaker to do any needed modifations).

Whats the point

The point being, you have acquired part of a watch that is surrounded by suspicious conditions (no case because the seller is hiding something), and you came here for help obtaining a case. The point being that, unless you knew the WHOLE story about the watch, maybe you should have wondered if you should buy it. The point being you came here for help, but respond with flip answers when someone tries to help. Best of luck!

Whats is suspicious in selling an engraved gift watch case with ur name on, its not private jet engine, u act wired.. I wrote the story in first 2 lines in my post... Thanks

This is a friendly place. If you want to be taken seriously, be friendly. Start with introducing yourself. This is your first post, so...... The watch could easily be stolen . Melting the case and get rid of the rest. Possible. And would not be the first time. Bama has given you the answers already. So, start your own research and come back with your results. Kind regards. Achim
