I'm a big fan of these late 60s/early 70s manual chronographs, with so many long forgotten about makers and wild styles available. To my mind these are still some of the best value vintage chronos out there.

This was my first vintage so in many ways got me started, the dial has definitely seen better days but I really don't care ::love::

This one's interesting as the movement is highly decorated unlike most of the Valjoux movements of this era you come across, but there's very little info on the Duval company out there. In fact if anyone here knows any more about them, I'd be really interested in hearing more history.

Both watches were less than $300.

Any other Valjoux 7733/4/6 owners on board? Share your pics!

I had an ebay search for "Duval Chronograph" for years, but basically never got any hits.

Yep, great movements and probably the cheapest way to get into late 60's chronographs at the minute.

Just be careful to inspect case condition before purchase. A lot of these are chrome plated, which is fine as long as its in good condition. Otherwise the brass can show through on worn edges.

This has since moved on. Great watch though.

    Same here.
There are a few photos floating around of a Duval "poorman's Heuer Camaro", one picture was regularly showing up on eBay in a listing for a leather rallye strap.

I've never seen a version of the watch for sale though or any other Duval's for that matter.
I do have a very similar looking Baylor.

    Also have this Wittnauer

Used to have one of those Hamiltons too and a couple of chrome-cased Vulcains.

    No kidding - seriously?

"This is a perfect watch, EXCEPT for a few little things...

Missing Crystal + right hand side little hand for chrono. The second hand is bent, but can be bent back. And missing the screw back.

It does have the back dust cover. The movement, dial, case, buttons and dust cover are MINT! GREAT condition. Seriously, like new. "

So "a perfect like new watch" except that it is missing the crystal, the chrono hand is bent, the subregister hand is missing, and it is missing the ENTIRE BACK OF THE WATCH.

Ah but find a crystal, hands or unbend a hand or something, and then in a lifetime of looking find a caseback that won't exist anywhere and $1500 is yours! (Or $325Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network)

I enjoy two-register chronos, and have owned several with the valjoux 773x. Currently a couple of Camaros and just picked up this Lip recently, and a Yema that hasn't to me arrived yet. If these were Heuer or Longines ... add another zero to the prices.

Sweet LIP. Someone should collect all the "Newman" 7733's. Here's the Vulcain example.

Also a huge fan of the 773x movements. Although I have owned many over the years I am currently down to these:

Newmark 6BB RAF issue. Until very recently I owned the other three (Hamilton, CWC, and Precista). Still a little tender about the decision to break up the collection and move them on...

Aurex gentleman's steel chronograph. I picked this up for $300 a few years ago, and my wife instantly took a shine to it. And so it goes... Not the best picture, but I love that crazy Art Deco font.

    Here's a fun kind-of oddball one I have

Valjoux 7734 movement inside a huguenin freres "prototype" very-speedy-esque case, but with a really cool outer bezel/inner tachymeter combo. I've seen a couple of these online but never seen an adequate explanation of what it is.

This just came in the other day - Sicura Pilot with a 7734

You could consider Sicura the Invicta of the 70s. Huge (40mm), fashionable, and cheap watches, mostly chrome-plated brass with cheap movements (this model was one of the exceptions). Survived the quartz crisis and bought Breitling in bankruptcy. Then turned around and called the combined company Breitling.

    Sneer,

Is there a model number on the back of that Hamilton?

Long gone now, but the orange hand seemed to be a thing in this era...
