Hi all, I have a Universal Geneve with a Valjoux 72 movement. It's been acting up when I run the chrono. The watch completely stops running when the chrono function reaches 12 minutes and 58 seconds. When I press the stop pusher then the seconds sub dial continues. But if I press start again the chrono function is still stuck.

Any idea what may be going on? Thanks in advance.

 

There is no short answer to a problem such as that. The process that happens at 12:58 is the same process at 0:58, 1:58, 2:58, 3:58, etc. etc. You need to have it checked out.

 

Impossible to say for sure. Probably needs adjusting and could possibly be a chrono wheel tooth problem. Perhaps dirty/bent/worn/broken wheels cause of sorts of fully problems. It could also be a tight click spring but i would expect it to be intermittent if it was down to that. As mentioned, impossible to say without taking a look at it

When was it last serviced ?
