Wanting to validate the model number of my Japan-only racing dial speedy. I sent a request for an extract, but was told my watch did not meet the criteria: Made before 2000.

Any ideas how I can validate?

take it to an Omega Boutique and have them contact Bienne to match serial numbers with the watch. They did that for me for a Gemini IV I purchased

I have one of these and asked Omega to confirm that the serial number belonged to a watch built originally as a 3570.40. This they did (replied within 24 hours) by e-mail.

Same for me. I've helped others with this before, so PM if you'd like the form of the e-mail.

Any Omega boutique can look up the serial in their system and tell you the corresponding reference number. Also, the tell tale sign is a serial number that starts with 7713 +/-

I know nice guy @Archer on OF that can tell you model if you tell him serial.

For this piece, the watchcase serial number range must lie between late 7712XXXX to 7713XXXX. It's already a good indiciator and easy to check as it's engraved on the case. ;)

Thanks for all the info! Mine is 7712XXXX and I know there was a discussion about this being too early.

Email sent via the Omega website. Hope they can send me a confirmation, if not I'll reach out to those that offered some assistance.

Thanks all! The Contact Us page confirmed I have the 357040! So much for the internet experts I searched. There is actually a thread about this specific watch I own.

Glad it turned out to be authentic. What do you mean by this:

I did an internet search and found
a thread about being careful buying this watch since it's easily put together. It referenced this particular watch I own being suspect based in the early serial number.

How early? What are the first 4 digits of the serial number? Could be that the serial number spread is wider than previously known.

Sorry, missed that in your earlier post. Well within the range. You obviously consulted the wrong "experts".
