Hello all. I love Vacheron Constantin watches but don't know much about them. Someone I'm acquainted with offered me this watch. They are in an unfortunate financial mess because of the current stock market and were forced to pawn several high end items. He offered to sell me the pawn ticket, which is $3125, and add another thousand, so it would cost me $4125. Is this a reasonable price to pay for this watch? Are there any issues I should be concerned about? He says it was serviced two years ago. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. 01414_j6X0AovZUwq_300x300.jpg 00i0i_irJ2PVZhqFe_600x450.jpg

We need MUCH better shots of the dial before making a call either way.

î There's the key word: "genuine"- there are a LOT of fakes of these Malte series watches.

So the "seller" has stolen pictures of a watch from another website? Red flag! If a deal is too good to be true, it's not a true deal. Looks like you're getting scammed.

Or at least someone is apparently trying to scam someone else, right? ;) Reminds me of a Robert Redford / Paul Newman movie ....

Well, son of a bitch. You think you know someone, even a little. Thank you very much for the information and for saving me from a scam. I guess the old adage once again holds true, "if it's too good to be true...".
Out of curiosity, what would I expect to pay for this watch, fair market value wise? If it's more than I paid for my son's college education just be merciful and don't respond. Thanks again!

Yikes, guess this will have to be one of those "if I hit the lottery" type watches. Beautiful piece though. Again, thanks all for the save.

If you had gone through with it you'd probably find the pawn ticket was for an Invicta (where valuations are the opposite of their "sale" prices) and your pocket would be $1K lighter.

That's why I said this looked like something out of The Sting. But all the OP had to do is what he did (great moniker btw), i.e., go to any online watch discussion forum, and nearly anyone who happened to see his post would let him know. Not much expertise is needed to see this is just a little suspicious. :whistling:
