Just thought I would share this little journey.:(
Posted from Norway on August 03 as A-Priority letter with registered tracking. This normally takes about 3-4 days to arrive stateside. No commercial value, hence no customs delays.

The letter was addressed with printed labels in order for the address not to be misread. (My handwriting is otherwise in the style of an elderly doctor).

    Target: NYC.
    And then the trip starts.

Last night the item arrived with a well known and prominent member of this forum. All well.

    But I am not impressed......
    :)

You know sometimes those little packages would like to have vacation before arrived to their destination. :p

And that's why I personally can't stand USPS.

This is a scathing indictment of elderly doctors.

Meanwhile I received a watch sent from Australia to Florida in six days:

Although it doesn't show, mailing date was August 11th. Registered is supposed to be the slower route.

Nobody's perfect, but I've had better service with USPS than with anyone else.

I was once posted a package from Denmark to Australia (I was working/studying abroad), which was posted on Friday - arrived on Monday!

All's well that ends well :)

I've had good and bad experiences with all courier services, but USPS express and FedEx are usually dependable. Registered mail sometimes throws a wrench into the process.

    Global Shipping Program

I might put myself in a suitcase, a good way to see the USA.

I'm trying to understand the logistics of travel in OP's log. It arrived in NY, then went to MA just to go back to NY...then a four city tour of OH before going back to NY? On a scale of 1 to even...I just can't!

No worries. I once had an item mailed to me in philly from sydney, Australia. Got stateside in few days, got to our local post office here in philly..where some unknown genius decided to mark it 'return to sender' for absolutely no good reason whatsoever. :)
Poor seller had to resend, and I got it on the second try. About a month total after buying it.

^^Sadly I'm in limbo on a package from the Netherlands. Their tracking system shows it was accepted and sorted, and then sorted again a day or so later, and no update since that time. So it is possibly lost at their mail facility. The last update was 5+ weeks ago. Besides the refund $$ that will need to be sorted between the seller and myself, I really wanted the watch to give to my dad for Fathers' Day a couple weeks ago.

If it hasnt moved in that amount of time, you can bet it is LOST(STOLEN is my thought). SMaller packages tend to go missing easier since they can be slipped in someones pocket as opposed to a medium sized priority type box.

I wouldn't post anything with USPS... I would rather DHL/Fedex/UPS it.

I bought a spare 40th anniversary box years ago from Germany... 6 months later it had turned up after it 'Vanishing' and was delivered. I was refunded through paypal for the item so me being honest i messaged the guy and paid him for it again.

I sent a watch to Archer and it was supposed to be there the next day, shipped "Global Express Guaranteed". It took six days and had 25 updates in the system.
