Used Straps are DISGUSTING

Let's get right into it. In a world where patina is held in high regard you never hear such claim about straps. There's a reason for that.

Used straps are gross, disgusting, putrid, stomach-turning, abhorrent and also scandalous.

Also, it is cool if you got a used strap and are happy with it. 馃槈

Depends, some watches have been sparingly used with no apparent wear or staining, I have no problem with a strap like that. But if it is well used it just gets taken off and replaced.

Those of us who work on watches for a living are confronted by grunge on straps, bracelets, and watches, regularly. Particularly under a 3x or 5x loupe. I once had to service a watch that had belonged to someone who had been killed in a traffic accident! Blechhh! I took a chance and washed the mung off of it, before I got too close to it! To think that people had actually been wearing these watches continues to astonish me!

I buy lightly used straps on the forums sometimes. Haven't had any issues but the ones I got looked basically unused

I agree, I would never wear a used strap. I鈥檓 not even sure I wouldn鈥檛 be grossed out with a used stainless band, no telling what grime hides between lugs.
