Aw, I was getting all excited there for a second.

There are 3 kinds of lies...........1st you have ordinary lies, then you have outrageous lies, and finally you have statistics!

How do you know a politician is lying?.........Their mouth is moving!

How do you know a politician is on the level?.......The bullshit dibbles out of both sides of their mouth!

in the highly unlikely event that you should ever encounter a good, honest, selfless, honorable and hardworking politician.......
you should probably shoot the bastard before they turn bad!

To fully understand a word, it helps to break it down into it's component parts.
Take the word politics for example.........poly is many and ticks are blood sucking parasites!

Speaking about revisions...I heard that companies have been less likely to respond to government surveys after covid. Something like it went from 70% to 60%. So less good data on the front end which mean more corrections on the back end.

So, big in the news the US tariffs on imports from outside the US - of course Switzerland will be affected as well. I think Switzerland will be paying +31% tariff on its exports to the US.

Already expensive Swiss watches will become more expensive - by quite a lot really. And Rolex has recently opened a new factory to increase their production.

Bad timing from the watch company ?
I'm more worried about Swiss chocolate and cheese prices.

Messing with cheese prices is just cruel and unusual. 😢

Saw this article recently and thought it was interesting - knife makers (I know there are many enthusiasts and some makers here) in the US are suffering, along with others in the outdoor gear indutry, because of tariffs. The tariffs are preventing them from making things in the US in an economically viable way...

Yes, tariffs are negatively impacting knife makers in the US, with many located in my part of the country. I have a problem with this statement in the article:

"'Punish the guy making the knives in Taiwan and in China. I’m fine with that,' Smith said in the latest episode of his podcast. 'But I’m the guy making knives in America, Donald Trump. Don’t punish me for making knives in America by tariffing my equipment and my steel supply. Tariff the guy that’s doing absolutely jack shit in America. That’s called nuance in your policies, and that’s what I’m asking for.'"

Smith does not want to raise his costs for the steel and equipment produced out of the US. But what if he made the equipment or steel?

The nuance here is that he is getting what he voted for. Tariffs are a bad idea.

I'm assuming the Smith cited in the article is the same Smith who is the founder of the Montana knife company? In april, he made a statement in which he said that tariffs would affect his product this much- and held up a chicken egg.
"Zero," he said.

Just another person who didn't understand how tariffs work.

A common theme is that if it happening to someone else, it's fine,. If it's happening to me, well then all hell will break loose! 🤣

Oddly enough, many Spyderco models had price reductions this year. I wonder if they were actually poised to benefit from us-based manufacturing, or if they are just eating some costs to try and get more market share.

Doesn't Trump understand that he shouldn't be hurting us, but hurting the Taiwanese/Chinese/somebody else? But not the Germans, because they make products I have to buy because there is literally no American alternative. So don't tariff them.

Just tariff everybody else that I haven't figured out how that'll effect me yet. That'll make me happy until I realize it also impacts me. At that point maybe I'll finally get curious about the Epstein list

The Swiss are a bit upset with the tariff rate, it seems. Apparently they thought they were 1 phone call away from a 10% rate, then it turned out to be worse than the 31% initially slated.

Many news sources saying the Swiss will push hard for a deal very soon. If they do get the 10% rate that would just be swell. Minimal impact upon watch purchases. But I'm sure plenty of reason for some to go up by 20%.

In a couple weeks America will slap everyone back in line. Tarriffs will be off the headline of doom and gloom. All will be back to normal. Anyway, I have to go to Vegas now and spur on the economy there.

Hit when holding 13 if dealer shows a 6 ? Damn I always forget
No, fool! You double down! Unless you have a pair of 6.5's, in which case you split and then double down!

On a more serious note, Mark from Long Island Watches did a tariff breakdown for his business:
