Back to Watches and Price increases. Does anybody has insight, what Tariff steps might be next and how it will impact Omega/Rolex/ .... Retail Prices ?
Btw: It will not help the USA cost of living crisis , to deport a few million undocumented migrants , that work for $5/Hour with no health insurance and perks. No American will pick the veggies , fruits and do hard work for peanuts to fill the void. So, basic Capitalism says: consumer pays and prices go up to maintain profits. Prices up = unhappy Voters .
Back to watches ...but I mean back to talking about politics.

The last time he implemented tariffs, so there's no reason to think he won't do it again. The people saying it's "just a negotiating tactic" are ignoring history and hoping it won't happen, because it will be a disaster. And just like last time, equivalent tariffs will be applied back on the US. Instead of making things cheaper for everyone, it will just make things more expensive, and many of the people who voted for this will suffer the most.

Yet inflation averaged 2.67% under President Trump, according to figures from the Bureau of Economics and 30-year home loans averaged 2.62%

Kind of nice the rules of OF have changed with the election of President Trump so we can now debate politics. Should be fun ...looking forward to it.

Past performance is not indicative of future results...unfortunately this disclaimer wasn't on the ballots.

But any economist will tell you, adding tariffs to all incoming goods will most certainly keep inflation down, right?

In other words I don't have an explanation.

I'm not the one who has to explain anything...

I think we should stop playing politics here now. The only thing I would like to say in conclusion is that it would be unthinkable in any democracy here in Europe that a convicted felon would be allowed to stand as a candidate in an election and win it. Now I am out of this discussion.

I’m not happy with the state of affairs in my country. We shall deal with it in our usual messy way. Pigeons will come home to roost very quickly. My advice for non US members is to get your own houses in order before throwing shade at us. I read the news.

Agreed - to a point. But when "your house" is threatening to cause major economic problems to "my house" all bets are off.

Can your Prime Minister hook me up with some Taylor Swift tickets? I heard he's a huge fan.

I have the utmost respect for you Archer and I have gained an enormous amount of information. We don't agree on politics, but that's okay we can agree on many other issues. It doesn't change my opinion of you that you are a kind and decent person.

Fair point. Had this same convo with a Canadian couple on our Peru tour. I’d give our Mexican neighbors some wiggle room as well.

Ok. Nobody seems interested in Watches in this conversation ... May I, as the OP , request to lock this thread ?
