Ummm... answer their questions, tell them the truth. Don't keep them (and your watch) waiting to ask silly questions on internet fora.

You have to do a few things with FedEx:
You need to give your personal info (address, phone number) in order to be in their system so they can bill you for the duties (one time thing).
You need to request a watch worksheet which you fill out (make sure the declared value of the seller matches your total value on the worksheet - you can confirm the declared value with FedEx) and then send that back to them.
Once this is completed you wait for the watch and a few days later the bill for duties - will amount to 2-4% of the declared value of the watch.

Precisely. Just like the Fedex rep will tell you.

On another note, guys, I need some urgent advice: What should I have for breakfast? I just brushed my teeth.

I'm thinking poached eggs, orange juice, and caviar. Because we roll that way here.

Whew... Thanks, Jim. Can you recommend a tutorial on how to poach and egg and send me a picture of a poached egg so I make sure I'm looking at the right tutorial?! Also where should I buy cavier? I checked my pantry and it seems my wife doesn't buy that.

Pays not to tell porky pies to the government. Most in the game would have already checked what the watch is worth (google tells all)
A false deceleration could end up in alot of paperwork.

Luzer, thanks for asking this question. Sounds like you got a legit answer from one member (and some ball-busting from another).

I have limited experience with international transactions, which is why I like your question. I like to think this is a safe place to ask questions like this. Sadly I guess for some folks there IS such a thing as a stupid question. Too bad...

Not to mention that in order to clear customs the box has the commercial receipt with full value plastered on the front--in triplicate!

i never use Fedex or UPS for exactly that matter.....they are a pain and do not have their customers best interests in mind. they get paid by doing the customs work..... kind regards. achim

Disagree. They have an interest in expediting their parcels across world
borders. So they are sweet enough to call the receiver and "preclear" your package precisely so it doesn't get stuck in the customs black hole. They charge a fee for this service.

If the fees and the higher likelihood of paying full/legally required customs taxes are upsetting, don't use their expedited service.

Think fedex will only hold anything for 10 days before returning

"Soft But Satisfying," indeed. These go great on toast. Thanks again for the rec, Jim!

PS: PM me if you want the eBay link!
