i have read everything i can find on the old zeniths. . . i have a very good a384 and 385. it seems to me that prices are starting to move, especially for the legendary early models. i love the watches separate from the prices, but they seem ludicrously undervalued to me vs. rolex and omega, as an example

i was curious what people thought the "right" prices were for the "big 5" zeniths. . very clean collectors level type examples

i like pictures too. and if someone would give me the right prices to pay for the a386, a3817, and a3818, i'd buy 'em and post the pictures! 😉😉

It's a watch forum. People on here like to see watch pictures.
Your more likely to get answers to your questions if you show what you've got.

Can't you do a search on Ebay for the completed auctions for the models in question?
That might give you a good reference point to start with for the models.

ebay ?? would you search ebay for an omega speedmaster 2998-2 ? i know back in the day you could steal vintage watches off ebay but i don't see any recent a386 a3818 or a3817 prints. do people buy real vintage watches off of ebay without knowing the dealer ? i'm asking the question because there heuer price guides and speedmaster price guides, but i can't seem to find one for zenith.

I sold an a386 3 years ago for around 6k all because I didn't want to spend $750 to service it and now I really regret it!

Price has a lot to do with condition along with things such as: does it come with box and paper work, GF ladder bracelet, has it been recently serviced etc..

For what it's worth here is my opinion, assuming that the watch is in great condition, recently serviced and comes with GF ladder bracelet.

A3817 and A3818 are going to be in the range of $13-$15k. Mathew Bain recently sold 2 really nice A3817 examples and their list price was in this range.
A386 as far as I'm aware are going for $15-$18k
A384 and A385 are some place around $6k

Again this is just my opinion based on what I've seen lately. Others may want to weigh in.

BTW here is a pic of mine.

As Zuke said, condition will set the price... Most of them have service/replacement crown and chrono hands (the spiky ones...). Lume is sometimes very dark. Out of the 2500 A386, I guess less than 500 remain in top condition...

I am proud to own 2 A386, a mk2 and and mk3. Both are 100% original. mk3 has the GF bracelet and the mk2 has the original zenith strap and buckle. mk2 is un unreal condition, watch has hardly been worn in 48 years.... patina is fresh and clean...

I enclose 2-3 photos as this thread needs a few pics....

@Zuke thanks a lot for your compliments 😀😀

yes the mk2 is stunning. the mk3 is also really nice itself, but it looks a bit "sad" next to the mk2. I'm afraid the waiting list is very long for the mk2... but i guess this will be my last watch for sale... LOL...
thinking of selling the mk3 though.... (i said thinking only...)
