18 mm lug width. Looks like a late 50's caliber 503 but there were still some of those sharp curved S fonts (the first letter in Seamaster) in the early 60's with a caliber 562. The large hippocampus symbol on the back is a cool feature.

Did they really need to write calendar on the dial? I mean it is pretty easy to spot!

I like these 19mm case back Hippocampi. Only made in '58-'59. Yours may be a cal. 503 ref. 2849. image.jpeg

I also like/collect the 19mm case back Hippocampi. I have read an article before about the history which included production numbers. I did not bookmark this article. Can you provide information to document production dates and numbers produced?

The production dates are from AJTT. Unfortunately I do not know what the production numbers were, or the article that you are referring to.

I like the uncommon solid gold one in your profile pick. I read once in an eBay listing that they discontinued the 19mm gold hippocampus due to the cost of the gold required. I don't know if there is truth to that or if they were trying to strike up interest in the listing.

I did nothing to the watch this is as arrived it even fits my wrist perfectly. The watch is in much better condition than I thought. I was searching the net for parts and ran across this one for me it's a Lucky find other than a few fine scratches on the crystal easy enough fix I am very pleased.
Here is a few quick snaps

Congrats. It looks much better in your pictures than those by the seller which is the right way round for a happy buyer. Have you checked the calendar window isn't painted on ;-)

Wow! It's one of the better-looking watches I've seen from that period. Congratulations!
