    Good afternoon Ladies and Gents,

First of all my apologies for the lousy quality of the photo, I’ll see whether I can get a better one done this evening.

The above mentioned watch is coming up at a local auction and I just wanted to double check my research with the Forum’s knowledge base:

    - Seamaster De Ville from approx 1965.
    - Reference Number in the auctioneer’s catalogue is 165008. The Omega database obviously didn’t come up with a hit, however whilst cross referencing the calibre, it DID come up with BC 165.0008 which would seem to fit.
    - Case. If I’ve got it right, a case with a BC in the reference number should be white gold, however according to the catalogue, the case is “two piece stainless steel”. The original text in German is: “2-teil Edelstahlgeh.” This is the one point that is niggling me !
    - Calibre 711 which tallies with the Omega database.
    - The text and the positioning of it on the dial seems to fit in with other dials of that era, however that was a google image search and I’d appreciate it if members with Seamasters from that era could confirm the positioning.

Sadly there was only this one photo available and none showing the mechanism. There will be a viewing at the auctioneers and if the esteemed members of the OF give me a tentative or definitive thumbs up, then I’ll check it out at the viewing and then put a bid in at the auction itself.

Last but not least, the price :) The catalogue states €250,- to €500,- .

Updated photo and note to myself: Buy a decent camera !
Back to the watch; according to the auctioneer catalogue the watch is in good condition for it’s age, minor flaws (whatever that means) and minor polishing marks.

I like the caliber 711, thInk it's stainless steel.
I have a very similar Geneve and it brings a lot of satisfaction.
If all the lume plots are present, Looks clean and sharp, with service not over USD 700 is fair.

Thanks for the reply rollee. There’s no reference to any servicing, so I may have to factor that in and I‘ll definitely look very closely at the lume plots during the viewing.

    Best to you.
My 136.0098 says hello, fully serviced running +5s, multiple leather straps gave a very hip look, patina rules. Highly satisfying.

    Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

I’ve just been to the auctioneers and taken some additional photos of the above mentioned DeVille. Calibre and reference tally (please see first post). To my inexperienced eye the case doesn’t look pollished or brushed, the lume plots seem OK and the dial tallies with pictures that I’ve cross referenced with.

I’d appreciate it if the DeVille gurus could take a few minutes to check the updated photos and give me their feedback.

Based on my initial lousy photos, rollee stated that 700USD would be a fair price. Bearing in mind that the auctioneer is taking 24% of the final price on top, do the experts concur (based on the new photos) ?

My thanks in advance for any advice, pointers or just general banter :)

My apologies for the bump; I just wanted to see whether there is any input from the other side of the Atlantic as the US OF members are just about knocking off for the day :whistling:

Final bump, then I promise to drop the thread :) I‘m not deliberately going out of my way to annoy people (and if I am, please accept my sincere apologies), it‘s just that this watch is up for auction tomorrow morning CEST. As a noob, I just haven’t got the confidence to bid on it without confirmation that I‘ve done my homework properly.
My research tells me that I’ve got it right, everything “felt” right at the viewing and my gut feeling is telling me to go for it, but I’d like to make the call based on a clear head and experienced advice.

The pictures that I took at the viewing are the ones down the bottom of this thread, tech data in the first post.

My thanks and appreciation in advance for any help, advice or a (probably well deserved) STFU ;)
