This mysterious Seamaster came on one of the auction sites I usually follow and at first glance I just passed the picture thinking it was a redial. Then I got curious and even if the pictures were bad it felt like a real thing.
I have seen red cross hair on white dials before but that was Seamaster 600 with manual movement. I guess those are called "technical dials". I have had my self an automatic Seamaster with sunburst dial, red cross and red painted marks but again, not like this one :)

On the other hand, looking at the pictures on the auctions site, it all looked quite good. The font, the index marks, paint, hands, loggo etc.

After some intense searching here and all over Google world I finally found same type of dial on one of the dealers sites that looked exactly the same. That was just 10 minutes before the auction ending and plenty of time to hammer the bid :D Bang!

Week later it arrived and I was more than happy. The dial looks just perfect to me, the 562 caliber inside looks like it was never touched (in a good way). Thee case has nice sharp edges and it looks unpolished to me. Reference is quite usual 166.002. The movement dates it to 1966 and it works just fine (will service anyway at at some point) The crystal is missing the Omega logo so I assume it has been replaced.

Thoughts and comment are appreciated and I would like to know if anyone else has/ or have seen this particular dial version?
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

I had two in the past. But I dont know all the possible dials omega made on this one. So if the OP is saying he saw similar dials I'll give him happily the benefit of the doubt.

No AML's here. These are 165.002 and 166.002. Painted date window surrounds.

Omg..what a nice collection of "no AML" Seamasters there . So if I look at the ones you posted they have red crosses, painted loggo and painted date window. That makes me believe that there are versions (like mine) with all of those attributes together :D. Thanks a lot @kingsrider

All the painted dial watches in that collection have the double lume dots and double painted dots on the 12, I'm afraid your watch does not, also the minute markers in the painted dial collection begin at the bottom of the hour markers, yours at the top.

This watch has been discussed here recently, I believe the sentiment was that it was a redial.

What do you meen by "this watch" ? Did someoane else postade same type of dial here on OF. Please send me the link if you can find it.

I'm still very much sure that this is NOT a redial.
I found another tree watches on the webb with same type of dial so for me that is more than enough to recognise this type of dial as existing. All 4 watches are from different locations as well (usa, uk, france and mine is sweden)

Here are some pic on all four combined.
Now I hope that is good enough info for everyone to understand that is actually legit dial type at least.
Now, there is a slight difference between all tree watches I found and mine :D. Hmm..the date window of course. Hapoy to continue this discussion cause I find it very interesting.
Here are the links for watches I found online :

That exact same dial - whether or not it was the same watch I am not sure of and I am not about to dig through OF for half an hour right now to find it - but it is there :)

I found the same from "wannabuyawatch" when researching it myself and he is, I am sorry to say, not the most reliable source.

Alright, I agree that dealers are not the most trustful source. That is why I found the other two and compared them all together before concluding that this particular white dial type does exist. Can we agree on that :)
