Wow. Not even a bad price, considering.

That's not a wearing watch I'd say... which is why I haven't bought it! :)

so, if the price is good? can the seller prove its new? if he does not know what "barn find" means , I don't trust him.

It looks to be in almost (if not) perfect condition, and I suppose I can see why it may be worth what the seller is asking. But at that price, my interests would be steered more towards a 321.

To me a barn find is covered in crap, having spent a long time unloved and uncared for.
This does not quite fit that, I would say it is a Time Warp Piece.
Like others have said a special collectors watch.
    I am not that special.
I like to be able to wear a watch, but I also appreciate this - without the lust to own it

This is my 71, close but no cigar. Although I don't tend to wear it as much as I probably should.

One might have another definition of a barn find but the watch is very sweet. Price is not bad imho (and given fact that the watch is on hold I'm not the only one)

"By all accounts the original owner was a very serious and big watch collector from the 60’s onwards. He bought Rolex, Patek, Omega and many of the major brands models throughout this time. Most of the watches were left in their boxes and never touched. When he passed away recently his family found his loft was filled from floor to ceiling with watch boxes that had never seen the light of day."

This is sad. Very sad. That means hundreds of watches which were born to tell time on a wrist never EVER realized their potential. :(

They will - just 70 years later than most of their brothers and sisters.

If this is true, many of them shall never be worn. These would be great reference material in the future and should be locked in to a museum.
It aint easy to come across untouched watches from the big manufacturers these days, especially from the 50-60-70's..

    Only just seen this thread.

Barn find, garage find, NOS, time warp are all just phrases at the end of the day and mean different things to different people.

The watch was incredible and was a pleasure to own and document in detail all the original finish to the watch.

But like many others I guess I like to wear my watches and so was time for someone else to enjoy...

Hope you liked the photos anyway.

I will get round to posting some more of my watches here...it's the one forum I've been a lurker for about 10 years in and need to change that!

    I do love my speedys!
