    hi,

I've just inhertited a speedy from a relative. I'm unsure of the model as even the omega service centre in Singapore couldn't even provide me with the details of the watch other than authenticating it and telling me it's the real stuff. The serial number is 4840xxxx and comes with hesalite crystal and sapphire back View attachment 242963 View attachment 242965

i hereby request help from you experts to provide some insights on this classic piece.

    Thank you

Also, I noticed the hour and minute hands are somewhat yellowish compared to the chrono hands . Is that normal? View attachment 242966

Modern Speedmaster Pro "sapphire sandwich" version by the looks, I'd say 3573.50, sapphire crystal and caseback.

Ahk 3572.50 then, being luminova I'd lean towards it being a 357x.50 series rather than earlier as even some 3572.50s are tritium

Looks to me like a 3572.50 with a replacement case back from a 3573.50.

Hesalite front with a rhodium plated 1863 movement is certainly a 3572.50 - but their caseback did not have the "and only" part of being worn on the moon, which came later with the sapphire sandwich.

Thanks for the info, does omega often do things like switching casebacks from older to latest models?

    Thanks

I'd like to think not, but you never know. First one I've seen like this.

Alright, is it possible to purchase the original casebacks then?

I'm not sure really, but I've never seen one.

I toyed with the idea of getting to find a proper sapphire caseback for my 1861 speedy despite it not looking as good - and really dislike the "and only" because it's supposedly not true (and looks as if they're removing it from new sapphire sandwiches).

    Still searching.

Wow, a Speedmaster thread! You don't see many of them around here.

I actually meant the caseback with the correct wording for my watch

    Aftermarket doesn't necessarily mean non-OEM.
