    Hello,

does anybody recognize what type of bracelet this is? It doesn't have a number stamped on it. It came with an Omega Constellation in old, unrestored condition. I haven't completely cleaned the bracelet yet.

End pieces are marked 016, 18mm wide.

    Cheers
    Roger

Thanks. The brick widths of the 1040 look to be slightly different than on this one if I am not mistaken.

    and its 20mm...

either way its NOT swiss its one of the mexican ? probably not british not JB they always marked theirs not "rare" persay but not common they aren't collectible tho not really not very well documented one of the random millions out there the "forgotten undocumented" ones look even the SEIKO corp made them..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162416285664?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

so you didn't stumble on an ultra rare swiss £1000 omega strap thats hugely collectible just one of the plentiful random straps that got made and forgotten..

still a few $100 with the right sales pitch "flat link / brick link rare (uncommon) etc etc blah blah" someone will want it its good looking unusual strap of the early 60's

Hmm, it came from Japan with a genuine, unrestored 168.001 (not from a watchmaker or dealer but from a family whose grandfather wore it, according to the description) If it were a copy, wouldn't they have added the number?

I've had a handful of vintage Omegas where they kept the clasp, but due various reasons (wear and tear/resale) the actual bracelet was some cheap replacement. Sometimes JB Champion, but usually cheaper varieties from HK and such.

When @tyrantlizardrex did his thread about the bracelet on his Constellation, I did some online searches and I remember stumbling on photos of a particular bracelet very, very similar to yours... Can't for the life of me remember what ref. it was on!

not that either LOTS of companies made the straps for these watches often even seems like they "prototyped" in smaller markets (like japanese market) first look at the strap on my ebay listing.. actually ill post it here

There seem to have been a lot of bracelets produced in local markets during the 1960s... interesting, but I've no idea which this one is an (official) clone of, beyond it borrows the overall style of a 1040.

Can we see the watch it came on?

End pieces look very similar to a Seamaster Cosmic.

I'm wondering if it's for one of the late 60s early 70s De Ville Monocoque cases.

Thank you all for your comments. ConElPueblo, that's a perfect match. Too bad that the page doesn't say which ref. no. it was. But if it was the same, it may well be that the number was missing. Anyways, I guess in summary, the bracelet is probably genuine and may have been made in the second have of the 1960s for the Omega Cosmic.
