Hi,

Im new to the forum. I saw that there is a lot of expertise on vintage watches on this forum. I recently bought this Universal Geneve Uni-Compax 124116-2, serial 1608311. And i would like to know some more history on it. From the serial number I know its produced between 1950 and 1955. I haven't seen this model with the applied logo and indexes without the 6 o clock. I have seen a dial simalar to this one on Chrono24.
As you can see there is a small bump between the 6 and 7 oclock, i think is from the foot of the dial. I can buy a new dial, but do you think it is worth the money and trouble to replace the dial?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some more info.

Fine looking watch. Get it properly serviced and enjoy. No you don’t need a new dial. It is rare to find a perfect dial. This one small imperfection is not noticeable. The overall impression is nice dress Chronograph. Obviously you are avoiding dealing with the female spring bars. (They are annoying). At least get a strap of the right width. Don’t let a watchmaker talk you into clip and drill.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I can't say for sure without better pictures and more research, but at first glance the dial in your watch looks like a redial, and the loose dial you post at the bottom is original dial.

Good catch. Bare dial threw me. Absolutely replace . I own three of these things. I’m slipping.

Thank for the response. Now that i actually take a look at both dials side by side, i can see its a redial. Im going to order the replacement dial. I can buy it for 315 euros including shipping, you think thats a fair price?
