Hi All, I'm trying to lay my hands on obsolete Universal Geneve spares for a cal. 260 Military watch from the 40's. Any ideas? I've tried the normal channels without any luck and am slightly concerned the watch will be destined for a life of dust gathering in a draw. The item I am after is a complete balance, photos of the watch in question attached. Failing that, does anyone know of an extremely talented watchmaker who may be able to 'sraighten' the current hairspring? Thanks in advance. Regards
I've been looking everyday since purchasing, trouble is I haven't found a 260 or 261, even in good working condition. Seem they have either all be tormented and discarded or the owners love them and take good care. Regards
I can't say I've seen many calibre 260s on Ebay; plenty of 262 and 263. I'll keep my eye out for you.
There is only one person that I know who would be able to repair and poise the hairspring. That is: Howard Vyse, Tadley, Hampshire, United (not for long) Kingdom ...
